Awesome ending. The Red Sox lose and Farrell's managing lunacy gets exposed all on the same incredible play. Joyce made the right call, a call I don't think a lot of other umpires would have the balls or awareness to make in that moment.

Middlebrooks clearly did it intentionally, but intent doesn't matter at all in this situation. You can't impede the runner from advancing.

If Joe Kelly is available, it's a no brainer. But you don't risk a fluke injury happening to Waino or Wacha.

Lost in this was Jay swinging at a pitch outside and high and pulling it for an easy out to the 2B not playing far behind the pitcher. Horrible at bat.
