Superman/Batman movie coming in 2015

After decades of fighting evil solo, Batman and Superman will finally be teaming up on the big screen, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will direct the tentpole with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. It is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017.

Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

Warner Bros. is about to bring together two of its most iconic heroes: Superman and Batman will unite in a new film, the follow-up to “Man of Steel,” set for release in 2015.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

The Bat Voice sucked, but otherwise Bale was just fine as Bruce Wayne. He'll likely be a better Wayne than Affleck will be. No shot on Ben there, Bale was just that good in the roll.

When it comes down to it, well-written superheroes like Batman and Spider-Man are hard roles for an actor to play, because of the dual identity. The actor not only has to be convincing as both, but he also has to convey the deep psychic damage that someone must have in order to be able to voluntarily lose their identity within another invented one, and then convincingly perform the inevitable scene where they get discovered. Any character playing another character is probably the most challenging nuance for any actor to have to show, which is why the role that is generally considered the toughest of any players' repertoire is Hamlet.

There's been countless of iterations and even reboots of Batman/Superman stories over the years so there's not really a single story line. Most of them which involve conflict between the two have Bats either outwitting him or using the good ole "welp I'm rich so I also keep a handy bit of Kryptonite with me." Even when Dick Grayson was Batman it's suggested that he also carries it on-hand just in case as well.

Dark Knight Returns has been referenced many times by Snyder in regards to this flick and even the costume/logo is based off of it so I think they'll handle the fighting pretty similar.. in which case Supes will be drained somehow (in the story he absorbs nuclear fallout which also covers the sun so he can't fully regenerate) and Bats goes toe-to-toe in a brawl using a mech suit (which still isn't enough) before the Kryptonite trumph card gets pulled out via bow shot from Green Arrow. That said, I don't think they'll introduce something as cheesy as Kryptonite in this film universe (hopefully not yet anyway) but I can definitely see the Batman mech suit coming to play.

They need the kryptonite. Only beat superman with magic/humanity/kryptonite and that is really it. Just a mech suit is not nearly enough unless they are depowering him some from the comics. Which would be wise imo.

Well All Star had him at the ultimate peak under some very extreme circumstances (over exposure to sun radiation resulting in essentially cancer--I love that story). When he's just first starting out his power levels are way way down. In New 52 Action Comics he can't even fly yet and can still get his ass wooped by robots and the like. In the movie DC universe he's still starting out so they can easily justify Supes getting tossed around by robo Bats. Probably not life threatening but knocked around for sure. I'm sure they'll come up with an interesting take on how Batman can compete in this movie. He's the god damn Batman.

I'm expecting some tension and disagreement in philosophy that leads to a quick battle like the one between Thor and Iron Man in Avengers.

it's most likely the same design, but it'll be more form fitting like Tobey MaGuire's Spiderman 2 suit.

I don't think it's a mold for a new suit, if it was it wouldn't be in a pose like that. Maybe some kind of prop or proof of concept? Either way, that texture looks terrible.
