Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

We don't care about winning this year. KC fans care about doing the correct thing which is drafting and developing their own QB.

Smith is nothing better than average. Yay, I'm glad he was finally able to babysit a good ground game and defense for you two years ago. You know what, Cassel did that once also and put up much better numbers than Smith did. It still isn't good enough.

If you use your #1 pick on Geno Smith, the world will be laughing at you. If you really wanted him, you could trade down, hopefully get an extra pick and STILL get Geno Smith. You are the only fans drooling over him. Other teams will pass him by.

Dude.....20% of this fan base cares about doing it the right way.

80% of this fan base cares about going 8-8 and having a swell time at the tailgate before the game.

Yep.

It's pathetic, really. Even if we did draft a QB the fans would give up on him in a year. People are already calling Dontari Poe a bust. People were calling Baldwin a bust before his 2nd year. They want their 8-9 win, playoff loss instant gratification.

I've just always thought the golden rule was that you don't talk about another team's player.
It's been reported that the 49ers asked Alex to make a list of teams he would want to go to. KC was at the top of that list and the 2 teams made it happen.

Because he knows that he can skate by here as long as he mentions that he likes BBQ.

And it's still unclear as far as a potential contract goes dollar wise. He does not deserve to make any more than what he was making for us.

What's wrong with 8-8 when last year you guys had 2 wins and struggled to score a freaking TD for half the season? I would be thrilled with 8-8 after last year. It's year 2 that is going to say everything as far as this deal goes.

You don't understand this team.

Matt Cassel got $60 million after one year on another team.

because we have watched Alex Smtih play for the last 8 years, and spent a lot of time talking about his game over the years. Instead of rioting about some college gabbert like slub, maybe try and get more information about alex smtih from the people who know the most about him.

I know getting a quarterback that is very good at what he does, but pretty average overall is not the most exciting thing in the world, but when your team is donkey balls bad with the top pick in the weakest draft since 2005, average limited turnover play is exactly what the team needs from the QB right now. Crawl-->walk-->run.

JFC. Please leave. We don't need some 49ers pansy coming here wearing 5 Super Bowl rings telling us that we should be thrilled to go 8-8.

GTFO.

if it really is a second round pick(s), then these two have no business running an NFL team. They can certainly run the Chiefs, but not an NFL team.

Uhhh.....no.

If you average out Alex Smith's stats over the course of 2012.

3318 yards
24 TDs
10 INTs
69% completion

Over 2011 and 2012 (his so called best years)

3231 yards
65% completion
20.5 TDs
7.5 INTs

Over the those two years.....he averaged only 26 attempts per game.

Definition of ****ing average.
