Geno is making you embarrass yourself.

According to the bad guy, Geno is one of the final four players being considered for the pick and they haven't made up their mind on who to take yet.

The same source has been 100% accurate on everything he has posted this offseason.

That they have done their research and have decided those are the top 4 guys on their board?

It's that, unlike what's been suggested around here for months on end, they are actively looking to draft and develop a QB and Alex Smith is definitely not their long term solution.

I keep reading all this "Gloom and Doom" about how Alex Smith is going to be the starter for "Five years!" and blah, blah, blah. I've never believed it for a second.

Whether they take Geno or not, they're not handing Alex Smith the keys to the car for five years. They're planning to draft and develop a QB, whether it's round one or round two or round three.

Everyone should exhale and relax now.

Yeah, people act like now that the chiefs have alex smith, they will never get another qb ever. and thats just stupid. The year they gave Mike Vick 100 mil they drafted Foles. People are just mad cause hes not a first rounder....

Dude, you have kept me on blast for MONTHS for saying there is a chance they gave up so much for Alex was for the "win right away" acquisition and as a hedging of a bet if they do take Geno...as well as a guy that handled a similar transition over the last two years perfectly.

I've even said I didn't think Geno could start right away (right after the mooch interview first aired) and will take time to learn a pro offense...but that he is smart enough and has the work ethic needed to do so.

I've pointed out the contract details in Daniels deal and how it leaves the door open for him to take over as the starter early in year 2. Chase has a clause that voids the rest of his deal if he tops 2000 passing yards. Think about that...it doesn't have any effect in the third year because it voids future years. It's a black and white proof that they aren't cemented to Alex Smith past the first year.

I've brought that stuff up for months and you called me everything in the book including delusional.

Oh well.

It's a shame that we probably won't draft him, but him making it this far in the process is kinda exciting.

You missed my point.

There have been a shit ton of people that are completely convinced that Dorsey and Reid have hitched their wagon to Smith for years on end. That is simply untrue.

Look, I've said it dozens of times and I'll say it again: If the Chiefs choose Geno Smith, great! Just because I wouldn't choose him doesn't mean that they shouldn't. But I also happen to believe that it's far more realistic that they recoup a second rounder in a trade and select a developmental QB on Day Two or Day Three.

If that occurs, and I believe it will, everyone should just chill out and stop with the "Chiefs will NEVER draft and develop a QB" mantra.

I don't think their indecision is because they can't decide. I think their indecision is in trying to evaluate three options: 1) trade Albert; 2) trade out of the pick; 3) stay put and not get any picks. And choosing between the three options is dependent on how much your trade partners are willing to dance, which we may not know until a few minutes into the draft.

And that source believes there is a 1% chance of him being here. Let it go.
