USC grad plans to finds 50 jobs in 50 states in 50 weeks

Daniel Seddiqui's resume is extensive.
The 26-year-old Californian has married couples in Las Vegas, worked as a border patrol agent and logger, showed homes as a real estate agent, ran a general store in Montana, tested soil samples, manufactured medical devices in Minnesota, served as a rodeo announcer and more. And that's just within the past 15 weeks.

This week, Seddiqui has shifted his attention to Topeka, where he is working as an employee of Farview Farms Meat Co., 6325 N.W. Topeka Blvd.
Seddiqui failed numerous times at trying to find a job after he graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Southern California.
"No one would hire me," Seddiqui said while taking a quick break Monday morning from his duties at Farview Farms.
So Seddiqui decided to turn his failures into a positive. He started the project, Living the Map, in August. He plans to work 50 different jobs in 50 states in 50 weeks.
"My parents thought I was crazy," Seddiqui said. "My friends thought I was crazy. They inspired me to prove them wrong."
The native Californian started his project in Salt Lake City, Utah with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He said his toughest gig so far has been as a logger.
"I was working 16 to 18 hours a day," Seddiqui said.
His time spent as a marine biologist in Seattle was difficult, too, because he lacked some of the terminology.
Seddiqui seemed to have no problem the first few hours of his new job at Farview Farms. Dressed in a white jacket and red apron, he cut pork chops and ground hamburger.
"This is the real America," he said about the Midwest.
Employers pay Seddiqui at least the same wage other employees are getting. Seddiqui selected jobs that represented each state, then contacted business owners about his endeavor.
Drew Forster, owner of Farview Farms, said he was apprehensive of hiring Seddiqui for the week — at least at first.
"I thought it was a little odd," Forster said. After a little investigation, Forster said he found Seddiqui to be credible.
"So far, he is doing fine," he added Monday.
Seddiqui will stay in Topeka this week and then head to Kansas City, Mo., where he will work as a boiler maker.
"This is my first white Christmas," Seddiqui said about his Christmas in Kansas.
Along his journey, Seddiqui has had rich experiences in careers, people and the economy. He started his journey with gas at $4.70. Now he is able to fill his vehicle up for much less. He also has seen the effects of the economy. A logging company he had arranged to work for had closed.
"I've learned a lot," he said. "I felt like I had no opportunities. Now they are endless. It is opening so many doors for me."
Seddiqui hopes to try his hand at being an author at the end of his project when he writes a book about his travels.
If all else fails, he will have 50 other careers to choose from.

So he could find a job (50 of them to be exact) but not one that is good enough to stick with I suppose.

I would guess that most of these places are letting him work for a week for the perceived exposure it will give them. They better hope he doesn't get hurt on the job that week, that could be an interesting claim.
