Can KC make it to the AFCCG this year?

I have said I think that's where this team is headed this year and I'd like to gauge how the rest of you feel about our chances this year.

Outside of center, I can make a legit case for why we improved at every position on the team this offseason and we won 9 games against a very tough schedule last year...even after losing difference makers everywhere.

Berry
DJ
Devito
Avery
Allen (was looking like a solid RT when he got hurt)
Jamaal said he was constantly hurt last year, giving reason Andy didn't utilize him as much as he did in 2013

I think this teams floor is the divisional round and it's ceiling is the Super Bowl, but I tend to see the glass half full.

What do you guys think?

Smith's strengths is that he is a really smart, game-manager (if you have to), ball control, clock control QB. Give him a defense (check), and a decent line (?) and the RIGHT weapons (Maclin over Bowe - Check, Kelce over Fasano - Check) and you are going to do well.

Other QB's like Romo for example, you sacrifice your D because Romo is a gun slinger - so you load up your Offensive weapons and beef up your Oline. It's all about personell, and how you want to build your team and what you want to run.

KC is almost there... You may want a more Romo type of QB to run a more Dallas type of offense, but that's not what the Chiefs are doing.
I certainly look forward to the day where when KC is down a touchdown I no longer consider the opposing team has more than a 2 possession advantage because KC cant put the ball in the endzone.

Not a chance in hell. We'll have to face Brady (they'll make playoffs because they have Brady). Manning, Big Ben and possible Flacco or Luck

We won't even make the playoffs this year.

Why do you think Smith is really smart? His clock management at the end of games and decision making in crunch time leaves a lot to be desired.

We won't even make the playoffs this year.

Look out for the Bills. I'm serious, they are on the rise. If hteir QB doesn't flat out suck, I do expect them to at least seriously contend for the playoffs, and if they get in they will certainly be dangerous.

Same pretty much goes for the Chiefs, actually.

Manning needs to stay healthy for 16 games. Don't see that happening.

The main needs for the Colts this offseason were more talent around Luck (playmakers) and a tougher defense. Their draft wasn't bad, and they made some good free agency pickups. The question is whether the playmakers will really make plays, or just show their age. They really are very old. The rookies will need to contribute quite a bit on defense. We'll see how that goes.

I'd love a Patriots/Chiefs AFCCG (in Foxboro please). A new playoff matchp would be nice. For the entire BB/Brady era they have pretty much been playing Broncos/Colts/Ravens/Steelers/Chargers in the playoffs.

The Bills will be dangerous solely due to the amount of talent they have at RB, WR and the defensive line.

If Cassel is their starting QB for anything more than 10 games I wouldn't expect them to do any better than 8-8, though.

When has Manning ever been hurt besides the neck injury? The guy never gets touched. I see hime staying healthy all season long. They know he's their only hope and they will protect him at all costs. I don't think we'll win the division. It'll be Broncos and Chargers battling. Chargers have a good line and looks like a good RB as well.

Every coach who's ever coached him, a ton of players that have played with all say the same thing.... He's really smart. Knows defenses, and can read defenses, etc. etc. etc. Knows a ton of offensive schemes (probably because he had so many different coordinators etc.)

I'm just going off of what people in-the-know say about him. It is the first and foremost reason Reid likes him so much (because he can easily grasp what most in the league consider to be a difficult playbook).

I claim no special knowledge, but it seems to me to be backed up in his style of play.

I know you don't think so... but it really is. Every study that I've ever seen, or every article written on the topic reinforces the claim that that turnovers directly relate to wins/losses.

And if there was absolutely nothing special about doing that, why don't more QB's do it?

I'm not trying to sell Smith to you. Clearly that is not going to happen, and that's fine. But limiting turnovers is a strength of his and shouldn't be dismissed as nothing.

Yes we can. But will we? As a long time KC fan, I have no reason to believe we will go to the AFCCG. I wana see them win A playoff game first. There are many factors in play. Aging star QBs (NE and Den), our team health, Alex playing out of his mind, this defense forcing a shit ton of turnovers, etc. I know we can do it. We have a lot of talent on this roster. It will come down to the QB as always.
