Pretty alarmist, IMO, but possible.

Spoiler!

I guess I never considered that a criterion when I was in the market for a car. If what kind of car you drive enhances your chances of getting laid, you might want to do some serious soul searching.

Just wait until full on winter hits and all those folks who use oil heat in the North East start firing up the furnaces. Price will go back up. I wish I had about a $100k I could throw at some futures of oil.

Yeah, that's what I have been thinking. Of course, it's not just people buying hybrids. I think a lot of folks that didn't need bigger gas guzzlers got rid of them and bought more fuel efficient autos, not necessarily hybrids. Add to the fact that a lot of folks started riding bikes, carpooling, etc. Hopefully, our consumption stays down now that we aren't all driving lower mpg vehicles.

Personally, I still have my F150 and don't plan to get rid of it. However, I do find myself driving the little Honda Accord (that I bought for my son for when he turns 16 in January) to work. Even when gas prices were still above $3/gal., I was getting to work and home for 2 weeks on $20.

I build ethanol plants and here in North Carolina you can buy gas at the terminal(with tanker truck) for $1.32/gal, $0.05/gal delivery, and $0.48/gal tax. This is how much gas stations are paying to put it in there tanks. I am no genius but when it should be $1.95/gal a gallon but they are still charging $2.45. That bullcrap they say they only make a few cents a gallon is rediculous.

I've always found that a little hard to believe myself, but keep in mind there are substantial costs involved with operating a gas station. Just because they are marking it up $.50/gal doesn't mean they're putting it all in their pockets.

Uh, gas aint the only thing they sell. Gas stations also sell lots of other products, and they gouge the hell out of you on that stuff too. Trust me, those f***ers are pocketing a mint.

Lol. I used to manage Kwik Shops in Topeka. They hardly are pocketing a mint. And it is also true that that make very little on a gallon of gas. The gas is just there to get you to buy products on the inside.

Don't forget about taxes that go to the government as well.

That said, I saw it for 2.49 a gallon this morning. That was what I was hoping for a month ago, from here, if it keeps going down it's a sign we're in deep shit.

Since I quite smoking three years ago, I almost never go inside the station unless I'm on a road trip.
