Had anyone tried Pack Up & Go trips?
https://www.packupgo.com/
I'm not a very spontaneous guy. I like to plan everything out. However, for our 22nd anniversary I booked us a three day trip in June with a total budget of 4k. Just wondering if anyone has been on one of these or knows someone who has. |

We all can make more money, but I don't think paying 4k to surprise visit Flint, Michigan is what I'd call an ace invesfment.

I do understand the laughs at the idea of St. Louis being your destination, but that's kind of the whole point of an idea like this - explore fun things to do in the U.S. that you might not have thought of. I'm confident that you could find a way to successfully occupy yourselves in St. Louis for three days and have a great time. Pretty much any decently-sized city will have a few cool museums, a few sporting events, maybe a random concert you could go to, some nice restaurants, and a brewery or distillery you've never heard of.
As a caveat (and possibly an explanation for the polarized responses in this thread), my wife and I really value travel and probably get on 2-3 mini-vacations per year. If you're the type to only travel once every couple years, a program like this might not work for you, and that's OK. |

I wonder where the people were from who got St. Louis
This type of thing is a gateway vacation. Next thing you know you are getting kidnapped by strangers from some adventure website and wake up on an ocean freighter. Be careful, have fun, like was stated before it’s just money memories > money |

For that budget, I'm sure it'll be DC, NYC, SF, Seattle, San Diego, etc; and if it is somewhere off the radar, it'll still be pretty damn nice. |

Motel 6 is a little to far down the ladder but for me the hotel/motel doesn't have to be "all that". When I am on vacation I will just be sleeping and showering, etc. there. Most of my time will be spent elsewhere.

When you sign up, they ask you a bunch of questions about where you've gone to on your last vacation, any places you've had on your "want to visit list," and some questions about the stuff you like to do. It's a surprise where you end up, but it's not like they're going to send someone who loves beach vacations to Fargo, ND or anything.

I don't know. I can see how it would appeal to some folks, but based on the testimonials, it seems like a lot of folks end up in Denver.
If they are asking where you want to go, why not just go there? I would also hate to stay in a hotel anymore. I suppose the right compromise for me would be either my wife or myself surprising the other with a trip to a city staying at an AirBnB and letting our host give recommendations on what to do in the area that is off the beaten path. That said, good luck, have fun, and make a lot of memories! |
