Possible Honeymoon destinations?

I guess the males family pays for the honeymoon portion of a wedding. So, I want to avoid asking my father for help towards this. We have been together for a year now and we are getting married May 21, 2011. I'm on a budget for this, so where should we go? I have no clue as to where to take her. She has traveled to Europe and always talks about going overseas again. I don't think I can afford something like that. I was thinking Florida or somewhere near a beach. Maybe somewhere near a good lake. How much would an estimate be on a honeymoon like that?

Thanks for the help.

Why?

Its obvious that flights and hotels are the most expensive part.

If I can get that for under a grand (3-4 nights). I should be ok. Is that possible? Rather it be in florida or california. or wherever.

Catalina Hotel in South Beach?

I have no clue what I'm looking for (never flown before) and it's driving me nuts.

Call them on the phone, Mr. Dunit35 (the number above). Tell them that you are planning a honeymoon and you want a package deal (flight, transportation from the airport to the hotel, hotel, etc.).

They will help you find a way to get your honeymoon in under budget.

Great place. The rooms are awesome. Giant gilded cages throughout the many beautiful lobbies housing enormous blue, green, and red parrots. (It's like a Spanish villa, kind of.) Your wife will never forget the experience.

Fax, that place does look pretty sweet. But, unless I get an amazing discount...it's probably out of my range. $1500 just for the place is a bit much.

I'd like to keep everything under $1,500. This includes hotel, flight and spending cash.

If I were in your situation, I'd call them (or someplace nice like there) and ask them to make you a deal.

Can't hurt to try. You would be amazed at how eager some top resort hotels are to work with you. I have been.

Here are my top three recommendations for various budgets, assuming a week on the ground and flying to any destination more than about four hours away. This is based on no real thought on my part.

Under $1000:

Hot Springs, AR
Las Vegas, NV
Branson, MO

$2000:
One of the cheaper Mexican resorts
Laguna Beach (may be a stretch)
Short Caribbean cruise (not Carnival, more of a married cruise line)

$3000:
Nicer Mexican resort
Hawaii
Charleston, SC

$5000
Some European city that she hasn't visited, preferably Paris or maybe Florence or somewhere in Ireland or Stockholm. Not one of those Mediterranean resorts with the topless sunbathing since that'll just make you sad.
Bali or Tahiti
Egypt if she's hardy

$10,000
Upscale cruise, either transatlantic with stops in Europe or Antarctic or somewhere in the South Pacific
Cape Town and African Safari
Great Barrier Reef and maybe throw Tasmania and Sydney in, or perhaps stop in Hawaii on your way.

$50000
Round the world cruise
Grand tour of Europe by luxury rail
RV tour of the US for several months

$1 million
Outer space
Jacuzzi suite at local hotel and multi-day orgy with a couple of Playboy models (and your wife, of course)
Weekend in New York to see a Broadway play about your romance that you wrote and produced.

We stayed in KC down Crown Center for the weekend, we had no money go anywhere. Spent it all on the wedding reception... I bought 2 kegs and went on 2 more beer runs for kegs...
Good times...
