The last time Dallas traded 2 R1 picks... Joey Galloway bit them in the ass. There is no way I believe this has any life.

we haven't had a top 5 pick in ages. We need to draft an elite player at #5 so I would not like this trade at all.

The ONLY way I would even get past the 'hello' part of the phone call is if this involved 3 first round picks. Both this year, and next years.
And even then it wouldn't be enough. Take the elite player at 5 and give the finger to people wanting our spot. |

It won't happen but I'd rather trade them #17 (maybe throwing in a 3rd rounder to make it more even) and then Dallas could further package #17 with our 3rd and their own picks to move up farther into the top 10.
But from our perspective, we'd still have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds, but we'd have 3 first rounders instead of 3 third rounders. |

I want Chris Long too.
You have to consider the players that are available down there. You math nerds think all this shit is linear with the draft and quality. |

LOL I wouldn't mind at all, but it would be hard to sign 3 first rounders.

That's tempting considering how many holes this team has, but I think we should be wheeling and dealing with the second of our two picks... Not the #5 overall pick.

I'd only trade that far down if the deal was too good to pass up (and also factor in the Chiefs really not being thrilled with the available choices @ #5).
Something like if Ryan were still on the board, then to deal the 5 to the Falcons (who supposedly have a raging hard-on for him) for all 3 of the 2's, their better 3 AND next year's 1. Falcons would end up with potentially Dorsey AND Ryan. They'd start Ryan in all likelihood from Week 1 and a rookie QB likely would mean a 6-10 season at best for them, giving the Chiefs two 1st round picks in the Top 12. As for the Chiefs, besides the 2 1's for next year, they'd still have a 1 for this year @ #17 and have four second round picks and four 3rd rounds picks to start off things for Sunday. They won't necessarily get a high-imapct player anymore, but they'd have NINE Top 100 picks this weekend + 2 premier first round picks in '09. That could mean having a tremendous back-to-back draft years to really build up a collection of young talent. |
