You joke, but Thai and Vietnamese take a back seat to Italian alone in St. Louis. The family that runs Thai Gai Yang on the Loop have [or used to have] 4 other restaurants on that block, each with a different aspect of Thai cuisine, casual, formal, French influenced, etc.

Serbian food is making a surge in popularity in the Morganford/Gravois area with the recent influx of Serbs to the area.

What you might imagine being kind of between Greece, Turkey and Russia.

Smoked and spiced meats, lots of grilling.

Crumbly goat cheeses.

Lots of stuff baked in phyllo.
