I just use conditioner on mine every so often and shampoo once for every two times I shampoo my dome.

I grew a beard so I wouldn't have to shave or do much of anything.
For me this concern doesn't register. |

This. And once the boss thinks it's getting unruly, she'll trim it down to her liking. Since I DGAF about what anyone else thinks about my appearance, she can do whatever with it.

Mines not so much a beard as it is an ugly muffler.

I've had a beard off and on throughout my life, but I haven't had one for probably 10 years. On a recent vacation I stopped shaving just for grins, and so much gray was coming in that I abandoned the experiment and shaved after about 12 days.

No man or woman can properly trim another man's beard. You have to know the beard inside and out, and have already made every possible screw up.
For instance - my beard is now way too short and I have my dumpy Irish chin back - which is why I grew a beard in the first place. But I got my hair cut super short and was trying to match the beard to fade into the haircut. Live and learn. For the most part I'm getting pretty good at trimming the sides with a guarded trimmer - gradually getting longer from the edge to the middle - then taking the guard off and sculpting the chin area. |
