It's a little more one-sided than I expected it to be, but it's basically what I predicted (including I'm sure on this thread). Particularly on PvP servers. It allows people to behave in ways they can't in real life, and in this day and age, and with the general mentality of MMO gamers, that basically means shocking things with lightning and generally being an asshole. Empire was always going to be the "cool" side.

I do think that a little balance will eventually be restored, because I think the idea of "mains" will slowly fall by the wayside in this game. Not that people won't have mains (I have one myself), but that people will become more open to playing alts.

Same thing with WoW. People like playing out the "dark side" when playing a game. While (most) obviously would never do something evil in real life it gives a sense of satisfaction to be completely different than how you normally act.

I can't play dark side either. The empire class stories are all, in my opinion, a little bit better than the republic's, as far as I've played, but I just hate playing on the Imperial side. I don't like the people (NPCs) in charge, I don't like the way it feels playing empire. It just feels wrong to me. And when I do play on that side, I always seem to play light side. I guess I just don't have dark side in me. I even have a couple of characters on republic i've planned to play dark, but haven't stuck with it.

'course I'm an asshole in real life, so maybe I'm just living vicariously like all the empire kiddies.
