Nebraska Football was equal to KU Basketball roughly 20 years ago. Then again Fordham used to be the most powerful football team in the nation as well.

The math ratings make perfect sense. KU is more like USC football at #3 overall. Greatness over a long period of time, with iconic players.

I'm not sure why Kentucky basketball always gets placed so high. The SEC didn't even allow black players until the 70's or something.

I'm not backtracking at all. I say that both are elite historically. Nebraska is every bit the football program that Kansas is a basketball program historically. If Nebraska isn't elite in football, Kansas isn't in basketball.

I don't consider Nebraska elite in football. I don't consider Miami elite either. Sure they used to be, but that doesn't make them elite now. Kansas is at least still among the elites in Basketball.

In Kentucky's defense, they played against black players which separates them from their SEC football brethren of the time. Also, they did try and recruit blacks from the state ranks (Kentucky was integrated on that level) like Wes Unseld and Butch Beard. Not excusing Rupp but I don't think he was as bad as they claim nor do I think Kentucky was the same as Alabama was on that issue.
