I'm such a bad "mom"

I've had Fat Cat for 2 1/2 years. I believe she's 8 or 9 years old. I was petting her the other day when I decided to check out her teeth. One of her fangs was missing. She's had some plaque buildup, but the vet didn't seem to be concerned with it when I took her last year. Anyway, I looked it up online, and I found that losing fangs isn't a big deal, as long as it's not due to gum disease. I noticed a lot of people talking about brushing their cat's teeth, so I looked that up as well. There are even instructional videos. I wasn't aware I was supposed to brush her teeth. It's time for her check-up, so I'm going to make sure I talk to the vet about it. Still, I feel bad that I haven't been properly caring for her.

One of my kitties, Rocky the Cat, had to have a tooth extracted because it was impacted. The infection got into his eyes, it was nasty. He's doing a lot better now. It's been about three weeks. He's pretty much back to normal.

I originally got concerned on if she should still be eating dry cat food. She doesn't seem to like wet food much, so I hope I don't have to try to switch her over.

Although, my cat does love getting her chin rubbed, she hates it when you touch her belly.

Actually, it's not. She was bigger than she is now when I got her. She's lost some weight. I just need to do a better job at forcing myself to diet like I do her.

I'm of the opinion that pet dental care is a sign we've gone too far in anthropomorphizing our pets.

The ex, ex gf went to the vet a couple years ago with her dog (will take guesses as to the breed). The vet wanted to do an x-ray. She, being from an upper-class family, obliged. The vet said the results were inconclusive and that a repeat was necessary 6 weeks later. She paid for that one too.
