Candylicious: Round 1, Heats 53 through 56

Here are the rules. This will be a head to head tournament. For efficiency's sake, I will run four heats in each thread.

Therefore, I will put up four pairs of candies. For each pair, you will identify the candy that you would most like to have at the moment of voting. It doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite candy overall, just the one that sounds good right now. For visualization purposes, you may assume that you're out trick or treating (dressed as a pumpkin), and the woman at the door is offering you your choice of two options. You can only pick one, or if you would turn them both down, you can pick zero (not to be confused with the Zero bar).

So to summarize, you will vote for four candies in each thread, one candy per heat. And here they are!

Heat 53: Starburst Jelly Beans versus Peanut Butter Bar

Heat 54: Life Savers 5-Pack versus Mary Janes

Heat 55: 5th Avenue versus Milk Duds

Heat 56: Caramel Creams versus Krackel

My votes:

Starburst Jelly Beans over Peanut Butter Bar. The PBB's may be great, but they look so unappetizing that I've never tried one. I'm not a jelly bean fan, but at least the Starburst ones may be tart. Mild vote here.

Mary Janes over Life Savers Five Pack. I haven't had a Mary Jane in 30+ years, but I think they were fine and I tend to prefer chewy candy over hard candy. I do like the classic Life Savers, though, so this vote was close.

5th Avenue over Milk Duds. Shocker here. I would normally buy Milk Duds over 5th Avenue, but that photo has convinced me to give 5th Avenue a shot. It looks delicious.

Caramel Creams over Krackel. This is a huge shocker. I love Krackel Bars. They're one of my favorites. But those caramel creams are delicious and caramel sounds good right now. On another day this vote could flip quite easily, because they're both awesome.

The whole bottom half of this heat is worthy in my opinion. I haven't tried the 5th Avenue, admittedly, but it looks like a winner.

I think we have around 85 heats. Maybe a little more.

I've never had this Mary Jane or 5th avenue. Do they still make them?

My kids got some Mary Janes in their Halloween bags last year, and they have 5th Avenues on Amazon, I just checked. I wish I could find them locally, I miss them but don't need a whole box.

I think you need a whole box. It's candy.

Do yourself a favor and try the caramel creams. They'll open your eyes to creamy, chewy heaven.

And how can you not like Krackel or Milk Duds? They're American institutions.
