How many new players?

As jspchief pointed out, 15-20 new players isn't really a lot, especially for a team that smokes pole and has as much talent as a WPI editor.

I figure something along the lines of ...

1 QB
1 RB
2 TE/FB
2 WR
4 OL

1 DT
1 DE
1 LB
2 CB
1 S

1 K

That's 17, playing it very conservatively. At which position/s would you expect to see more new players?

We need to bring in 50 more defensive tackles and hope by a miracle one of them pans out.

we should cut 15 players, force them into a clown car, and make them drive out of Arrowhead....

not that this has anything to do with your thread

Seriously. God only knows what our defense might be capable of if we could get a good DT.

Personally, I don't think this team really needs a massive house cleaning. At least not in terms of starters.

The offense has enough good skill players. The QB may or may not be an issue, but without a better O-line it's hard to say for certain. Get a good LT (from all the good ones floating around out there) and we've suddenly got one side of the line that should be our bread and butter running, and buy our QB the time to hit guys like Gonzo and Bowe.

Our defense has a solid LB corps, we're set at DE, and I think we have at least one good safety in Page. We need more speed on the corners and a DT that can either stuff the run consistently, or collapse the pocket consistently.

And we need a kicker.

IMO, this team has less gaps to fill than it has had in some time. It's just that the gaps we have are very tough ones to fill.

Much rides on this draft. My hopes rest on striking gold in the middle rounds this time. We're due.

There also really isn't any reason (cap wise) why we can't be active in FA. There really is hope.

Now, when we get all those marvelous, fancy-ass players, do we have the staff to coach them and devise effective game plans so that their fabulous skills are put to good use? That's the question.

I would think we should have at LEAST one new player at each Oline spot.. be it a starter/young backup

2 or 3 new corners... 2 new safeties, 2 DT's and at least one more DE

What about safety? Do we still get to draft a safety? Oh I do so enjoy wondering each and every draft which safety we'll end up with after day 1...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Can he actually play his position instead of looking like an undersized LB trying to play it?

I don't think anyone could have predicted how many new players we're going to have.

We're going to have a completely new team.
