I figured I would start a thread for this and see what happens....there seemed to be quite a few viewers on the board for this show the past few weeks.....I like the direction the show is taking so far......episode 3 tonight at 7 central on ABC....

That's the part that threw me.

I think he was just making a point that his father used to be waaaaaaay more of a drunk then he was, but because he was dead there was nothing they could do about it.

Charlie was resigned to the fact that dying at that point was his destiny. The fact that a musician was needed to break the code was the final straw for him I believe. He gave Desmond a look of clarity.....he really believed that was what he was meant to do there.

Ok, here is the article that Jack was reading. It appears to say "The body of Jo..........." which would mean John Locke?

But of course it could be any character with a "J" name, James (Sawyer), Juliet, John Locke, Jacob.......but the "...antham" kind throws me off. There was a philosopher named Jeremy Bentham. Not anyone in the show yet, but it is a philosopher's name...

Exactly, he was convinced that he had to die in order for Claire, her baby, and the other survivors, to be rescued. Remember, Desmond kept telling him, every time he saved Charlie from dying, it was just going to take that much longer for them to get rescued. That it was his destiny and he had to die, for a sequence of events to happen.

I said the same thing about the window. He could have just waited for all the water to rush in, and then swim out the hole, but he was dead set on dying, to sacrifice himself, for the other survivors.

The coffin is a bit short to be a full grown man. Maybe Locke, when he came back had to lose his legs and have them amputated?

Did anyone else notice that when the group (lead by Jack) was first taking off from the beach to go to the tower that they went off walking with the ocean to their right then it went to comercial. Then as soon as it gets back, they are shown walking down the beach, but with the ocean on their left. WTF?
