It's possible that Pioli called, and the Rams told him "The Skins have offered up 3 first rounders and a second" and he said "no thanks" from there. |

It isn't really 3 first rounders. They move up in this years draft and have a first round pick. They lose out on 2 first rounders and a 2nd. If he's a franchise QB, it's worth it.

Wow, ESPN never fails to impress. I just heard that when the Redskins draft RGIII they are instantly a 8-9 win team.

IF RGIII turns out to be a franchise QB this will be regarded as a very good move by the Skins.

Would you give up Jon Baldwin + Rodney Hudson + Eric Berry to draft a franchise QB?

but we can't because 'oh noes! it risky!'....whereas having Matt Cassel as your starter for 4 years is not risky...per our fanbase

NOT WORTH IT. It's not worth it because lots of teams have drafted franchise QB's without giving up a shit ton of picks. You do realize that the Skins are going to be drafting top 10 more than likely for years to come right? And it is three first rounders. They couldn't just say next year and the next years first rounders and keep this years right? No. They had to give up this years, next years, and next years, and a second. That's three first rounders. |

Having a franchise QB has become the only way to win a Super Bowl in today's NFL. You take any risk necessary to draft a franchise caliber QB. |

Also, with the new rookie contract situation... it makes is much more appealing to go get "your guy" if you really want him. You're not paying him what QBs were paid 2-3 years ago. Helps lighten the risk, potential boat anchor factor.
Nothing in the draft is a 'given'. It's all about calculated risk.

You talk like RG3 is a franchise QB. Last I checked he hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL. And the Chiefs would have had to have given up way more than the Redskins did.
