Car people of CP... I need a new car.

My Focus SVT's transmission just bit the dust and I am tired of putting money into this damn car. Gonna buy a new one and drive that ****er off the lot.

I would prefer a 2 door car. Hatch is a plus.
I need the car to be sporty/fast as I do autocross.
Manual gearbox.
Around 25k to spend or so.
No GM products.

Suggestions?

Oh really? Can you give us some examples of cars you have bought from him and felt you paid a fair price?

P.S - I walked that line. I have wanted a newer Mustang for a while now, finally bit the bullet and bought an 08 with low miles. Got it for a song. The guy who bought it got all the bells and whistles and his loss is my gain. Be wise.
Does that apply to buying Harley Davidson motorcycles? The reason I'm asking is that in a couple of years I am considering selling or trading in my 05 for a new bike. I know HDs hold their value fairly well but all motor vehicles depreciate.

I like the car except for the hatchbacky part...ugh I hate cars that are shaped like that.

However, I'm glad you got a brand that is kind of different and fresh.

How are the seats? My mother in law's Subie has the world's most uncomfortable rock hard seats in the back.

Well done son, it really is the only (snow state) choice for a true modern car guy imo. Can't beat the overall package of hp, awd, mods, price, usefulness of the hatch and reliability.

I'm either going WRX (tempted to buy this fall as I worry about the redesign being stupid), Elise, or another S2000 for my next toy after I get through my current Wrangler phase.

Congrats on a fine choice and enjoy.

The way I look at it is anytime you buy, it shouldn't be new. Even if you plan to drive the wheels off of it. Throw in paying interest at any level, and you're getting double dipped. If you're willing to keep the thing for years and years and years, at least you're getting your money out of it.

Buying low miles and a year or two old will save you a lot of coin in my opinion, but ultimately it's your money and there's something about owning it from "birth" if you will. JMO, it's not golden or anything. Just my financial logic.
