Nothing wrong with being excited about a QB...

Odds are pretty low overall for any drafted QB to have more than a flash in the pan success in the NFL.

The only QB I ever saw and knew instantly he was going to be a helluva NFL QB was Luck... I would love to build a team around him.

I think part of that is GMs give first rounders chance after chance. If Alex Smith wasn't the #1 guy taken in the draft, he might be out of football. Jax would have cut bait with Gabbert a long time ago. etc.

If GMs were really that good in evaluating QB talent, there wouldn't be so many first round busts.

Murray may have reached his peak, Bray on the other hand may not have reached his peak. It will be interesting to see if kc retains both young QBs on the 53 squad or if one goes to the practice squad. Isn't Murray only like 6' tall?

Bray is going to have to get a chance before he can begin to realize his potential.

Being a UDFA, combined with being a notorious bonehead, is going to limit those opportunities dramatically.

I'm not really enamored with his potential because I think his floor is so low, they'll never take a serious look at him. They'll always be bringing guys in that immediately look better (aka Aaron Murray).

The thing with Murray is that he may be a perfect fit here, for Reid's version of the WCO. Which is something that I think doesn't get enough attention when it comes to qb failure/success discussions: guys landing in the right/wrong situation.

This is why I'm excited about the pick. I already liked Murray as a prospect, but also think he's a perfect fit for Reid's offense. To be honest other than McNabb, I can't think of a better prospect Reid has had to work with for what he likes to do.

He doesn't really have WCO legs.

That's fair.

I think the thing to remember is that, even if a QB is drafted first overall, the natural and expected outcome is for them to suck. It's just the hardest position in pro sports.

So, expecting a fifth round pick to ever do jack shit is wishful thinking. It can happen, to be sure, but I don't expect anything.

The rejoicing (for me) is that the arrival of Reid and Dorsey was supposed to signal a culture change, where the QB position would not be ignored. It was supposed to be a position that we were drafting at least every other year. That finally started. I'll be even happier in 2016 when we take a guy on day 1 or 2.
