He is not particularly impressive looking. I could see him in a Jehova's witness getup though.

I can't help, but wonder what the Chiefs' long term plans are for this kid...

I love this Conley pick for so many reasons. Not only does he seem like an awesome WR...for whatever reason, it has prompted me to find hope that there may be a future for Aaron Murray at KC, for that Murray-Conley duo was a lethal one.

Well it seems like the FO/coaching staff ask the opinions of former teammates like Bray and Da'Rick Rogers to see if they can develop them into quality contributors .

Here are a couple tl;dr thoughts...I posted them in the Conley thread, but they are probably more suitable for this thread... I want to get some Murray discussion going...the Conley pick has planted a probable grandiose outlook in me in terms of thinking that Murray is being groomed as our QBOTF. I HAVEN'T BEEN THIS HOPEFUL FOR ONE OF OUR QB'S TO DEFY LOGIC AND BRING US TO THE PROMISED LAND SINCE RICKY STANZI!!!!!

From the Conley thread:

I love the Conley highlight videos. It not only gives is a glimpse of Conley, but also gives us some more looks at Aaron Murray and most importantly, the chemistry between Murray and Conley...which seems to be very good.

The fact that we have drafted so many Georgia Bulldogs has got my wheels turning, a bit. Self-questions such as the following have been sputtering through my head lately: "What is the KC-Georgia connection?" "What or who prompted their interest in them?" "What long term plans do they have for Murray?" "What long term plans do they have for all of the Georgia Bulldog-Chiefs." "Houston, Ramik, Murray, Conley, Commings...what prompted this trend?" "What appeals the most to the staff about Murray and Conley? Is it the 2 individually that appeals the most or is it the combination of the two and the chemistry/past positive results that appeal the most? Or both?" "Are our scouts stumbling upon some of these guys somewhat by accident while scouting other players?" "Did Conley hit their radar when they scouted Murray?"

Tons of questions like that regarding Georgia-KC players have been repetitively crossing my mind.

It is a certainty that either there is a Georgia-KC connection, or we straight up just scout the shit out of those guys.

I don't think it is THAT much of a stretch to start thinking that maybe the Chiefs have more planned for Murray in the future than we have all been anticipating. Although he isn't the ideal size for an NFL starting QB...he doesn't have a cannon for an arm (although I personally think it is adequate...not THAT weak...to say that he doesn't have just as good or a better arm than Daniel is ludicrous, IMO). However, he was a very, very accomplished QB in college... He was the first SEC QB to pass for over 3000 yards in all 4 seasons. Hell, he broke the almighty SEC career passing/TD records in college. I mean, there were certain factors that contributed to this that were helpful, IMO. One component would be that he started all 4 years...which enabled him to rack up the hefty career numbers. Another component would be some of the WR's he threw to being really good...AJ Green, Marlon Brown, Kris Durham, Brandon Boykin, Tavarres King, CHRIS MAH-FUGGIN CONLEY, etc. the dude has a real impressive resume...and it is very cool that Chris Conley was a key factor in helping Murray rack up those impressive numbers/feats.

And he played those 4 seasons in a pro-style system, correct? Honest question, I think this is the case, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Man... I really hope they have long-term plans for Murray...and if so, I hope they give him a legit shot at competing for the backup spot and the starting spot if Alex struggles, which I am guessing, he will.

And:

True that... Just from his interviews and what not, he seemed like the type of dude who would. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

This may be a weird thing to say, but I have always caught the vibe from him that he seems like he would be a marketable athlete if he were to succeed. I know, I know....plays in Kansas City, no one cares about Kansas City, etc. However, the dude seems charasmatic and the fact that his brother was on that Bachelorette show...the media may eat that up a bit compared to QB's we've had in the past. People love that Bachelorette/Bachelor/mainstream reality TV show shit, and how "cute" would that be? Reality darling, Josh Murray's bro succeeding in the NFL!!! I can imagine a bunch of chicks thinking, "Aww, that's awesome!!! How cute! I wonder if his brother is as cute and nice as his Joshy?!?!" May be kind of an odd, feminine way to bring attention from general spectators to this team, but hey, it's better than our draft picks being neglected of extensive discussion when drafted on a routine basis...or our games, for that matter...

This is, of course, if he does well. I will go on the record and state: I think Aaron Murray could be a marketable athlete IF he does well.

I mean, hell...TMZ covered his breakup with his fiancée... And why did they cover this? Because he is the brother of reality darling, Josh Murray. Seriously:

http://m.tmz.com/#Article/2015/01/20...f-hot-reporter

Freaking TMZ...home base for the "celeebabybrity-obsessed."

Sounds weird, but I think the kid can bring some juju/attention to the team if he steps up...and that is, of course compared to the attention KC receives now.

For those who didn't read the above posts, can someone clarify to me what system Aaron Murray worked from at Georgia. Pretty sure he didn't operate one of those "unpredictable translation to the NFL" spread or read option systems, correct? I'm about 99% sure this wasn't the case.

Didn't he start 4 years in college at QB in a pro-style offense?

Considering that this is the case, it's awesome that he put up the consistent stats that he did via operating a pro-style system.

Tony Dungy: Aaron Murray will be like Russell Wilson

Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray picked up as much love as a supposed third-day draft prospect could hope for on a Monday.

Just hours after NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger predicted Murray to post the best NFL career of any quarterback in the upcoming draft, Super Bowl champion coach Tony Dungy also endorsed him, comparing him to a Super Bowl champion quarterback:

Murray is slightly taller than Wilson, at 6-foot-1, and both have live arms. Both are athletic as well, although Murray doesn't figure to approach Wilson's rushing totals in the NFL. Murray rushed for fewer yards in his entire Georgia career (396) than Wilson did in his second season alone with the Seahawks (581). Still, it's Wilson's ability to move behind the line of scrimmage, not across it, that makes him a special threat. And that's a quality Murray showed at Georgia, as well.

Path to the Draft
Airing weekdays at 7 p.m. ET on NFL Network, "Path to the Draft" previews the 2014 NFL Draft by providing in-depth expert analysis of the top prospects and each team's needs.

» 'Path to the Draft' videos
» NFL Network broadcast schedule
Coming off an ACL tear he suffered in November, Murray has undergone a speedy rehabilitation and is expected to show that mobility off at his pro day performance in front of NFL scouts April 16.

"I'll be doing full-out drops, three steps, five steps, seven steps, we'll do rollouts, right and left, throw on the run, do some pocket movement stuff," Murray told the David Greene College Show. Murray said he'll even have an obstacle course set up at his pro day to make sure scouts are convinced of his recovery from surgery.

Count Dungy as a believer already.
