Chiefs have the #1 scoring defense in football after 5 weeks

We are only allowing 11.6 points per game...even more impressive is that the second place team is NE at 14 ppg. That's a sizable lead.

Some other rankings after 5 weeks...

1st in sacks
1st in passes defensed
1st in defensive touchdowns
1st in recovered fumbles
3rd in interceptions
7th in yards allowed per game
4th in pass yards allowed per game
21st in rush yards allowed per game (Philly game skewed this one)

Translation: the defense is killin it

Matt Stafford is also having yet another amazing year and can easily put points on the board.

I have RG3 ahead of Romo too (assuming he returns to last years form), but RG3's leg is still ****ed up.

Eli is ahead of Romo too, but this year his OL is one of the worst I've ever seen, so of course he's struggling.

Then there's Kaepernick, who many people like. I'd actually take Romo over him, but some like Kaepernick more.
Yet without megaton, he scored 9. I can't put Eli up there, he's made some big plays in the playoffs, but romo is more consistent.

The individual throws by themselves? Sure I think he could make them.

Goin toe to toe with manning and score for score like that? I dunno, it was damn impressive

I don't know why people are still complaining about it. If you hate it you might start flying the banner to get Reid fired.
Yeah but your entire post is about something the YAC response wasn't talking about. The original point about the 25+ yard passes was to imply that Smith actually pushes the ball as much as the other QB's mentioned. The YAC comment was pointing out that having a 25+ yard pass play doesn't mean you actually were pushing the ball. Whether you like the style or not, which this post I quoted is talking about, doesn't really have to do with the YAC. What the actual 25+ yard stat actually represents and whether you like this style are two different things.

I would be comfortable thinking that Rogers could do that. I think by this post you are also saying Manning could do it, unless we are still just talking about NFC. You could do a hell of a lot worse than Tony Romo. I have never been in love with him, but I always felt he got too much hate. I guess if I was always living and dying on his mistakes I would be more emotional about it.

You're assuming that every pass that is not 25 yards downfield is not intended to be a big gain. Some aren't, Reid uses the short pass as a run sometimes. But there are plenty of times they are trying to hit quick guys in space in order to break a big play. They've done this several times with Avery. It's not black and white.

Oh I think Rodgers could do it.

But then again, if you're comparing romo to Rodgers and saying they're a select few who could do it, what's that say about Romo?

While that's true... sometimes offensive play calling has a big hand in it too. Or if the QB makes an appropriate audible at the line of scrimmage. Putting your offensive players in a position to be successful.

Yep, no credit to the qb for putting the wr in a position to make said play.

Like I said, doesn't count. Gotta throw it deep.

Credit to Reid for finding a way to make Alex Smith marginally productive.

Avery was wide open without a soul within 5 yards on those crossing routes that took off.
