Mizzou needs a new facility for the hall of failure, you need more room for the NCAA Tournament participation banners.

Songs about happiness, murmured in dreams
When we both of us knew how the ending would be. Shelley and Robert Smith have these mother****ers pegged.

Good god, reading through this thread from today was depressing.
Little perspective here: Yes, yesterday's loss at home was brutal and shouldn't have happened, but it will not define Mizzou's season and certainly does not prevent them from attaining their goal, which is winning the SEC East and getting back to the SEC title game. The only thing yesterday hurt was their pride, fans egos, their ranking and national 'perception'. But, going forward, yesterday's game doesn't affect their SEC standing in the least. I actually think their odds of winning the SEC opener at South Carolina next week go up dramatically with this hugely unexpected loss. The players (see Maty Mauk, etc) can stop reading their press clippings a little, get a chip on their shoulder, and now that the national media is simultaneously writing them off (I've already read two articles, one ESPN, one BR, stating Mizzou has no chance to win SEC East now. Really? That's beyond ridiculous considering they haven't even played a single SEC game yet), they can get back to playing the role that the played so well last year; us against the world and **** em if they don't like us. Missouri seems to thrive in that role. Better so than the lofty ranking and high expectations that accompany said ranking . . . . Yes, it was a brutal loss, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean a whole lot and doesn't affect their standing in the SEC or put them in the hole with an early conference loss. Everything they want to accomplish is still in front of them and, again, I think their odds of going into S.C. and stealing one next week actually increase now. I guess we'll find out in a week . . . . Oh, and for some of the ridiculous 'fire Pinkel' crap over this loss . . . . really? Do you remember where this program was before he and his staff came along? He's not perfect and has made mistakes, obviously, but good god people. Get some perspective. Mizzou is now recognized nationally for their football program. They're not Top 10 or 'elite' amongst college football powerhouses, but they are very respected nationally and that is thanks in no small part to GP and his staff. The sun will rise on Columbia tomorrow. Chill the **** out. Last edited by TomBarndtsTwin; 09-21-2014 at 02:13 AM.. |

I know it makes me an a-hole since this was my childhood team but I just don't like these guys much anymore. Pinkel has gone stale and I don't wish him anymore success, the success he wasn't going to bring anyway.

We just lost so much on offense from last year. When the OL plays like dog shit it's tough to over come.
Plus Mauk was bailing a lot yesterday, when he could have stepped up. He missed a lot of open guys, and can't adjust to an obvious blitz to save his life. I am trying to be optimistic that the team we saw yesterday was not us. That was just a piss poor performance all around, and surely we are better than that. Now I'm starting to wonder though. Can the new guys on O step up? We will find out next week what we have. I don't think the season is lost, but we absolutely have to respond next week. If they take SCAR as lightly as they took IN we will get beat by 3+ touchdowns. |

You can say it's a blip if it wasn't 21-18 against SD St, if we didn't savaged by Kadeem Hunt, and if a turnover barrage didn't turn a 14-10 game into a runaway.
Truth is, this team has come out lazy in three of the four first halves this year, and the defense is one of the worst in the nation. They can't tackle, they can't stop the run, and unless one of the ends gets tremendous pressure, the pass carves them up.
