Alabama had a lost fumble reversed by replay into a touchdown. That call doesn't get overturned, and MSU may have won...and winning in Death Valley is always impressive.

Doesn't change the fact that it could have just as easily been upheld. You're acting like it was a beating. It was a close loss to the number one team in the country. It is their only loss all year. If they get into the playoffs by going 11-1, they won't have backed in.

They won't have won their division or conference, and Alabama let their foot off the gas significantly in the second half. That game was never in doubt.

It's also a good example of why garbage time scores matter to perception. Them scoring with 15 seconds left had no effect on the outcome of the game but it allows their advocates to suggest that they were closer than they really were.

You saw how Alabama's defense engulfed them. Prescott threw 48 times and averaged less than 6 YPA. Their running game was completely dominated as well.

That was a sound defeat, and their three best wins came against teams with a combined 11 losses to this point.

Your advocacy for them reminds me of the same disingenuous arguments you used for the number of ranked teams that Missouri beat last year. Florida's ranking at the time of the Mizzou game was a mirage.

MSU and the BXII teams both have the benefit of dodging a potential tough conference championship game and getting a prime position because of it, similar to KU in '07, but with less scheduling luck.

...and Mizzou wound up 12-2 and ranked top 5 by the time it was all said and done. I think one of us was vindicated about the quality of Mizzou's season last year while the other pulled the eject lever for the umpteenth time yet again this season.

Before you decide to lecture me yet again about being disingenuous, perhaps you should re-read your OP and let it serve as a reminder that pessimism isn't a synonym for realism.

If MSU ends up 11-1, they will have won at Death Valley, at Ole Miss and at home against aTm, Arkansas, and Auburn with their only loss being by 5 at Alabama. In the real world, people call that an impressive resume. You prefer to call it backing into a four team playoff....which is comical.

What's also comical is saying that MSU was dominated by Alabama. MSU had more rushing yards than Alabama. They had more passing yards than Alabama. They had nearly 100 more total yards than Alabama. They had more time of possession than Alabama. They had 26 first downs to Alabama's 17.

Alabama won that game because State's Heisman candidate QB was banged up and played like crap turning the ball over three times while Alabama's only turnover was reversed by a questionable replay and called a touchdown.

You've dug in your heels here, and that's fine. You'll have to forgive me if I find the case you've laid out severely lacking.

The Hogs are coming to town, after a 3 game stretch against three top 17 teams (all SEC) and only giving up 17 in in a narrow loss to #1 Miss State.

47-0 against #17 LSU and #8 Ole Miss

This team has had a brutal f'ing schedule, and after narrow defeats early on... it's turning around and I think this team can play with anyone in the land right now.

Mizzou - yeah, you're going down. Four straight cupcakes to open the year and playing in a down SEC East.

The Hogs will win this by 13.
