Who is your Chiefs breakout player of 2016?

Mines Dee Ford.

I saw a guy last year wearing #55 that got to QBs with relative ease once he got a chance, but also had trouble finishing plays with sacks instead of pressures....but he also lead the NFL in December in pressures.

Tamba was a very similar player in 2007/2008 and then got over the hump of just creating a lot of pressure and being a poor run defender into becoming a sack machine. I see a similar jump for Ford as a pass rusher (I don't think 9-10 sacks is an unrealistic goal for him).

Who is your breakout player for KC in 2016?

He's all speed an no technique. Until he learns to beat guys with more than speed, he's going to get washed out of a lot of plays.

He thinks he's on Derrick's level of quickness and speed on the field but in reality Dee has to know he isn't so he can improve. Ford isn't a generational athlete like Thomas was.

Supposedly the guy is up to 320 now and has gotten a lot stronger. He needed size and strength, with it I think we'll all see a massive improvement.

I also think the playoff game vs. JJ Watt gave the guy a dumptruck load of confidence in his own game. Sometimes confidence can be just as an important part of improving as anything else (physically). Esp since he's bigger and stronger now and he's starting to see the benefiting results. Just really hope the guy stays healthy. Our depth at tackle is not great by any means.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

As soon as I saw the thread title yesterday, Dee Ford came to mind. Of course, he is the first one you mentioned, as do others.

Eric Fisher was a quick second thought along with Philip Gaines.

IMO, Fisher evolved to at least average last year, something not many players from that draft have done and none of the others were carrying the pressure of 1.1

If all three of these guys were to break out, it would be very, very nice. We are in for a fun ride.

So, I see there are some votes for Fisher and LDT, and even Morse.

Let's say that all 3 make the leaps we hope for, and that we have a credible 2nd guard, which means the O-Line as a group takes a laep.

The player who will be perceived as the breakout player in that scenario will be Alex Smith.

I am expecting Rod Streater to rejuvinate his career, and that, combined with the O-Line will lead to Smith putting up bigger numbers than he ever has before, except as a runner, since he should have to scramble less than in the past.

In 8 games last year, Josh McCown put up 2,109 yards, 12 TD's to 4 INT's and a 64% completion rating with Joe Thomas, Alex Mack, Joel Bitonio and Mitchell Schwartz blocking for him.

Better line=better QB production.

Thoughts on who?

I'm guessing the underperformed guy to be Kelce. All the offseason stuff, added to his tendency to have brain fats on the field.

He had fun this off season. As long as his fun doesn't affect conditioning, he doesn't seem like the type to let himself go.
I expect gronk like year and maybe fans outside of kc will show some love.
