Clark Hunt met with Marty?

http://www.kctv5.com/story/20058706/...schottenheimer

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Chiefs fans are excitedly buzzing about whether team owner Clark Hunt is preparing to offer former coach Marty Schottenheimer the general manager position or get his help on reversing the team's declining fortunes.

SiriusXM NFL Radio reported that Schottenheimer was at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday to meet with Hunt, who is in Kansas City. This set Chiefs fans on Twitter and Facebook afire.

The team flatly denies that Schottenheimer was at the practice facility today.

However, left unclear was whether Schottenheimer and Hunt met at a different location, met earlier this week or whether they have a meeting later this week.

General Manager Scott Pioli is under fire after the Chiefs 1-7 start and a disappointing four-year tenure in Kansas City after he left the New England Patriots.

Tell us what you think. Should the Chiefs bring back "Martyball" or hire Schottenheimer as a consultant? Go to

Clark has been manipulated, used and abused by a psychopath for four years. Marty brings a guy that Clark can trust and learn from. There is no way Marty will be the GM or HC imo but, he will help save the franchise in a behind the scenes sort of way. He is the one guy who can call Pioli out on his bullshit. Marty will probably do it for free as a favor from a family friend. Clark will listen to him over Pioli...

I hope...

Report: Marty Schottenheimer could advise for Chiefs

By Dan Hanzus
Around the League Writer
Published: Nov. 12, 2012 at 08:46 p.m. Updated: Nov. 12, 2012 at 11:02 p.m.
Marty Schottenheimer has been in contact with the Kansas City Chiefs, but don't expect "Marty Ball" to make a dramatic return to Arrowhead Stadium.

An Internet brushfire started last week when it was reported -- erroneously, as it turned out -- that Schottenheimer had flown to Kansas City to meet with Chiefs owner Clark Hunt.

In reality, Schottenheimer only recently spoke to Hunt and head coach Romeo Crennel via telephone. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Monday that Schottenheimer is available to serve in an advisory capacity, but is not in the mix for a role in any full-time capacity. That includes potential vacancies at head coach or general manager.

Mortensen said on "Monday Night Countdown" that Schottenheimer "has directly offered his encouragement to Crennel and Hunt and preached patience with a young team."

Schottenheimer coached the Chiefs from 1989 to 1998, going 101-58-1 in the regular season and 3-7 in the playoffs. Schottenheimer's most recent gig was in the UFL, where he led the Virginia Destroyers to a league title as the head coach and general manager in 2011. He's now an analyst for ESPN.

, this isn't that young of a team. We have veterans in several players at important positions (D-Line, DB, ILB, WR, OT, and RB . FFS, the Colts, who had their roster completely gutted and replaced are better. Minus Bethea, they have a secondary that in all honesty, should be one of the worst in the NFL. They have 1 interior lineman that is good, no RBs, 1 quality WR, 2 rookie TEs, and a patchwork O-line. That team is in contention to make a WC run and will likely put a beatdown on the Chiefs when they play.

It's much, MUCH worse than anyone thinks. Marty is telling Clark to STAY THE COURSE.

Schottenheimer says he wasn’t in Kansas City, but he’s talking to Chiefs

On Friday, a SiriusXM caller insisted that former Chiefs coach Marty Schottenheimer had been spotted in Kansas City. The Chiefs denied that a meeting between Schottenheimer and owner Clark Hunt had occurred.

Thereafter, Schottenheimer said that, while he didn’t meet with Hunt, they’ve been talking.

“I stay in touch with the Hunt family,” Schottenheimer told Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “Of late, I’ve called to encourage them for whatever they’re doing. They’ve got a lot of young players. And they’re working their butts off.”

Schottenheimer indicated he’s not returning to the NFL, even though through last year he was coaching in the UFL.

“Life is good,” Schottenheimer told Bell. “I just feel badly because I have great affection for the Hunt family and the Kansas City Chiefs. Those were the best 10 years of my career. But I think the world of Romeo Crennel.”

As Chris Mortensen of ESPN explained on Monday night, Schottenheimer has “preached patience,” which would suggest staying the course with the current coaching staff and front office.

The problem is that the fans want blood, though they’ll accept change. The message from Marty seems to be that change for the sake of change may not change anything.

Still, as the losses pile up (even close ones in overtime), Clark Hunt at some point may have to balance the right football decision against the right business decision. Even if the right football decision is, in the short term, the wrong business decision.

I am working under the assumption the discussion involved change mid year. Marty said no need, wont do you any good at this point.

Which I agree. Keep losing, clean house at the end.

You guys read way too much into shit.
