I'm not a fan of hiring dungy. But that is a completely laughable comparison.

Dungy is a good enough game manager, he led a pass heavy offense in Indy, and he can actually coach up players whereas herm was a defensive backs coach who leaped to head coach.

The only comparison is that they both run an obsolete defense and are generally conservative. Comparing him to herm, who was a pure motivator, is ridiculous.

I don't want dungy. But honestly, it's baffling to me that the same people who rip on dungy want cowher. To me, dungy is a lot more cowher than he is herm.

Dungy had exactly the same kind of team in Tampa Bay that Herman ****ing Edwards had in New York.

The only real difference between Dungy and Herman ****ing Edwards is Peyton Manning.

If Dungy were a real ****ing coach, he'd have won more than one SB with Manning.

Right there with you.

Hey, life sucks, imagination is better.

I'd argue that's the whole basis of Christmas.

So...

Hope your office party was fun!

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Assuming he allowed Manning to call his own plays and manage the clock.

I could have won a Super Bowl with Manning. Maybe 2.

That is oversimplifying a job where coaches have completely lost their locker room in a matter of years. Hell, Romeo lost his in less than a year.

How so?

Dungy was Herm's mentor as a coach. They're both "Tampa-2" guys.

They're both ultra conservative football coaches.

Lovie Smith is on that same page.....and in fact I'm still VERY surprised he's still the football coach there in Chicago.

Lovie is a fair comparison, though dungy brings a far more impressive pedigree.

Ive defended herm many times in the past. With that comparison, you bring a whole host of other issues you don't have with dungy. Dungy is a terrific coach who knows how to coach players. Herm is a motivator players like with no concept of how to coaxh on game day. They are not the same coach, except that they run a similar scheme.
