Robert Quinn is so fast. The packers need a left tackle.

Good QBs are hard to find - you want them around for the next 10-15 years... LOL

I completely agree about putting the QB in danger but the shotgun doesn't put your qb in any extra danger. The pistol is just a formation which offers much of the advantages of the shotgun and i-form style sets.
One can run a pretty standard offense out of the pistol without really adding danger to the QB, I think that it is just a more formidable formation |

cyborgtable, When you have time, watch this video. It is a compilation of all RGIII running plays. However, I am not sure who is more reckless, Shanahan or RGIII. RGIII will not last much longer if he keeps getting hit on read-option and pitch plays. This video will blow your mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2UcgGAZNeo Please let me know your thoughts.

I never disagreed with the fact that running QB's don't last long. I blame Shanahan much more than RGIII because as a player you will do everything to win, Shanahan has to not call so many designed runs. In terms of the pistol being the reason behind the running I disagree. Not pointing to you in particular but I keep hearing people use the same argument against the pistol becoming more mainstream, that it kills the qb. I continue to believe that the pistol is being confused for the read option. The read option and designed QB sweeps will get someone killed. Sorter can probably do a much better job than me of describing it but the pistol is just a family of formations, just as the shotgun is. Any play that the shotgun can run the pistol can run, any play that the I-form can run the pistol can also run. It gives a broader field of vision, a head start on the long stretch plays, and a quarterback has less time with the back to the defense on a play action as he is closer to the runner. Denver is adding the pistol to their offense and Manning is not mobile. In college football Alabama is using it and AJ sure isn't that mobile. In short Shanahan overused RGIII but the pistol itself doesn't make it more dangerous to a quarterback |
