This site has no heart

The Chiefs have been abysmal for the first two games this season, that is inescapable. But it is cataclysmic how two games have turned so many people that are professed fans to say that our only hope now lies in losing out this season to grab a college quarter back. The realities of the season are that we don't have berry, moeaki or charles. However, we are only a game out of first place. If the bleeding can be mended and the coaching staff can get decent play from the safeties and DMc shows up as that second round draft pick we've all bitched about - then this season can be saved. To talk about tanking a season or even rooting for it after 2 games to get a college kid is ****ing stupid. It's ****ing stupid.

Short-term pain for long-term joy.
More times than not that short-term pain turns into long-term pain. Teams that drop into that abyss were there for more reasons than just poor QB play. If anyone thinks that we can just stick in a good QB and call it a day is mistaken. Cleveland never got out of that hole except one fluke season. San Diego was seen as such a poor place to play that Eli Manning demanded a trade. Cincinnatti is still the Bungles despite one division championship with Palmer. The Raiders are still a mediocre team after finally admitting their stud #1 pick was not it. The Lions seem to be pulling out of it but haven't done anything yet. The Rams look like they're playing poorly again. There is only one example of a team pulling out of the stigma of being worst team in the league, and that team had Peyton Manning. One year without him and they are contending again for worst.

Being worst carries more baggage that regularly is not offset by getting the top pick in the draft. There is the stigma which chases away free agents. There is the losing attitude to overcome.

Difference is that this team actually has talent on the roster.

If the Chiefs can't win the division this year, and it sure looks like they can't, it would be sweet if they went into game 15 with an 0-14 record only to have two convincing wins in the final two weeks that kill Oakland and Denver's playoff hopes and still leave the Chiefs with the first pick overall at 2-14. That's my dream scenario, barring an unlikely resurgence.

Dream scenario would be 14-2 season capped by a SB Championship.....

Now that I got that nonsense out of the way, your scenario would be the second best outcome.

But it seems pretty clear that this season is going to be painful regardless. What's a little more pain added for the chance of perhaps drafting a franchise QB?

This team does have talent. Talent that is locked up.

That's why it's imperative to ride this perfect shit storm of QB failure, freak injuries, unpreparedness, first round playmaker breaking his thumb in a fight, br00tal schedule, and historic bad start into an elite QB without having to completely rebuild.

First year with a rookie QB will be growing pains. In that time the young talent we have gets older. You're not only giving up this year, but next as well and perhaps more.

**** me, I thought when we get Berry and Charles back Cassel is going to lead us to the Super Bowl!!?!

The "giving up next year" happened in 2009 when we signed our franchise QB to a $60M deal. We gave up everything until he's gone, regardless of what happens when we actually dump his ass.
