My brother in law's plane crashed in Tennessee today. THis is all I know. I will know later on.

Sunday afternoon officials said a Cessna plane crashed into a fenced area at the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport in a fiery crash.

Officials said the Cessna plane took off from Smyrna and was trying to land at Murfreesboro municipal airport just short of the runway around 3:00 Sunday afternoon. One person, the pilot, was on board. He was life flighted to Vandy Medical Center. The pilot has not been identified.

Sunday night he was in critical condition in Vanderbilt’s intensive care burn unit.

Wow, that's one of my biggest fears. He's a lucky man! I hope his luck continues for a speedy recovery.

It has been a couple of days, hopefully he has been removed from the critical list. I wish him and all his family well.

Update:

Wednesday he had skin grafts done to his back but he bled too much to use his own skin. THey took it from a cadaver

Thursday He was stable

Friday: Skin grafts done to his hands

I spoke to my sister yesterday evening and she told me that he was stable.

FAA took all his logs and won't be done with their report until next month. They think his autopilot messed up but we won't know until later.

Apprently he was coming in at full speed at a 45 degree angle and bounced 3 times and exploded.

He managed to climb out of the plane with some guidance by a onlooker who could not go help him because the fire was so hot.

He will be in ICU for a month and then moved and stay in the hospital for a month.

When he gets out he will have rehab

No timetable on when he will go back to work

He has burns on the back of his hands and his arms some parts of his legs, some parts of his face (eyes were not burnt) and 3rd deg on his back.

His boss called my sister and told him he does not need to worry about his job nor money. He will be taken care of.

Just got a phonecall from my mother. My brother who lives in Louisville is down in Nashville with my sister. He just called my mother and told her that it is not looking good . They just found out a half hour ago that he has pneumonia and a infection in his lungs and he might not make it.

I appreciate everyone who is praying for him. Now it will come in handy now in these dark times.

Update

He is doing better and responding to the medicine

The burns on his left hand are worse then wht they thought. There might be a chance they might have to amputate 3 fingers

Update

He opened his eyes today

He still has more surgeries ahead of him for the skin grafts

They are still expecting to amputated part of his left ring finger.
