why all the fuss about Broderick Bunkley?

In my opinion, i don't understand why everyone is so high on drafting Broderick Bunkley. Alright, i understand that he is a monster with great athletic talents, blah blah blah. What everyone needs to understand is, is that Herm Edwards is a defensive guy and is undoubtedly going to have input into the defense. Herm has always ran the Tampa 2 defense, and now with him here, i see us drafting to mold that style of defense, which is fast linebackers, big physical corners and run stopping safties. The biggest thing in the Tampa 2 is pressure on the QB and pressure doesn't come from the interior line in this defense. it comes from the edge rushers and linebackers. DT's in this defense are mainly massive human beings, around 310-350 that just sit and take up the A gaps for run purposes and hold up lineman for blitz packages. All that being said, i dont think we need to spend a 1st rounder on a DT because all they have to do is be huge and take up 1 gap. There are fat DT's all over the NFL that can get the job done in that defense for a heck of a lot less than a 1st rounder. Gabe Watson would be much more suited, hopefully we can get him in the 2nd round. Anyways, thats my shpiel.

Com'on HolmeZz, why are you debating with this guy.

I mean, every team in the league playing cover 2 is trying to emulate the Bucs, which uses quicker DTs, and good coverage LBs.

But this guy played LB in college, and certainly has to know what he's talking about, and the NFL teams are clueless.

You realize the way you played your cover 2 is probably different than the Tampa 2 version?

The Tampa 2 version doesn't use big DTs. That's why it's their own version.

And I question your version of the cover 2 if you say your safeties need to be run stuffers. The reason WHY it's called a cover 2 is because you drop both your safeties deep into zone coverage.

listen, im not tryin to step on your toes holmezz, i was fortunate and blessed enough to play D1 and i enjoyed the X's and O's of the game most of all and studying the game and defensive schemes, playing with small, quick DT's can be done in the Tampa 2 and it can be done successfully, just like in tampa bay and with the colts, all im sayin is, is that my preference is to have bigger DT's

yeah, they do drop into deep coverage in passing situations, but on 1st and 2nd downs they have to be able to be run stoppers, use your example, the colts, look at bob sanders and mike doss, 2 great run stopping safeties in a tampa 2 defense

also holmezz, let me clarify alittle, when i say the weakness in a cover 2 is the middle of the field i dont mean the entire middle, i mean the middle behind the linebackers drop in between the 2 safeties, sorry if that confused you

I don't believe a word of it.

Of course, college grads nowadays can't spell, nor do they have a clue when it comes to sentence structure, especially student athletes.

So, I guess the possibility that you're telling the truth does exist.

Tommy Toughnuts?

WTF is that.

I am a sarcastic asshole, both in life, and on the net.

It's gotten me in trouble a number of times on the job.

It got me into a boatload of trouble in the Navy.
