So, you asked to see one off pavement. There you go. And I actually see several that, if not stock, are very close to stock.
If you hung out with 4X4’ers you could say the exact same thing about their Fords, Chevys, Dodges, the few Toyotas and Nissans you’d see, and yes even Jeeps. Modifying ones rig to be more capable is part of wheeling.

yeah, if I hung out with 4X4'ers. A ford explorer is nothing more than a 4 wheel drive minivan.

FYP.

Edit: In fact that goes for modern SUV's in general, not just Fords.

So if it’s not an out of the box tube chassis rock crawler it could never have been meant for anything but paved roads?
The Explorer was designed as an SUV. Back in the ‘80’s, when it was designed, SUV meant off road capable which means a high center of gravity and loose suspension.
Now that people have willingly stripped away their own personal responsibility SUV means glorified minivan because they had to be dumbed down for people that bought them thinking they could drive them like a car.

That's nice and dandy, but Ford knew what they were doing. They weren't making the Explorer for the off-roaders.

Yeah, the timing of that whole thing was when Yuppies wanted to drive SUVs, but didn't bother to check the tires. The higher center of gravity, with an under inflated tire, was not going to end well.

Of course, now that TPMS are common, that tells these people they have an under inflated tire. My Wife's Nitro, gets just plain rude and obnoxious about it, when it detects a low tire.

Ford has had repeated problems with their f1 line, Exploders, and Pinto(Set the Wayback Machine) catching fire whilst standing still because of their use of cheap parts and bad designs.

Have you ever done it?
If not give it a shot some time. My understanding is that if you’re careful of the trails take, and don’t mind dragging the undercarriage from time to time, some stock rigs can make it through MOAB.

Is that the same FJ Consumer Reports rated low because of the drastically reduced peripheral and rear vision?

Is it not true that braking systems on modern cars are more powerful than the engine/ accelerating force?

My understanding is that that when mashing the brake pedal you should be decelerating regardless of how the engine is trying to accelerate.

What about power braking,, has everybody done this? stand on the brakes & the gas at the same time in your car. it doesn't go anywhere until you release the brakes right?

just stand on the brakes & pull the e-brake at the same time you should be slowing down. I believe that all cars are designed with more braking power than accelerating power.

Am I wrong here? honestly the brakes are more powerful, so use them. maybe it takes a little longer than normal, but the case in so cal with the cop he is saying "we have no brakes", so were there multiple simultaneous failures, or did he freak out, and not stand on the brakes?

If you're going highway speeds, your brakes will heat up very quickly and cause the brake fluid to boil which at that point they fail. It's different when you're standing still and lock the brakes up and hit the gas because there is no friction to heat up the brakes.
