Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

He ended up selling it and buying the XD for carrying and he freaking loves that compact CC XD, it shoots just as well as the Kimber (kick wise) with no additional headaches. The best thing about the kimber is people will pay big $ for them so he ended up selling the Kimber for what he paid for it.
I have the Kimber Ultra CDP II and I love it. I did have a couple rounds fail to feed when the gun was brand new. It just needed a little break in. I bought this as a carry gun and have worn it all across the US while riding across country on my bike. Never had a bit of problem with the finish and no problem with the way it shoots. It kicks harder than a full size 1911 but nothing to severe. That is expected when shooting a 3 inch .45.

The gun is about 4 years old and has had several thousand rounds down the pipe. It is wearing well and is still very solid. If I were hard pressed to come up with something that bothers me about my Kimber it would be the trigger is a little rough on my finger. My trigger finger gets a little sore after shooting 200 rounds.

Have you looked at the Springfield XDs 45?

http://www.springfield-armory.com/pr...-s-3-3-45-acp/

Single stack, 5+1 capacity (7+1 if you get an extended mag). It has trigger and grip safeties.

Their is a break in period on new auto's. I would never suggest anyone buying a used 1911 with out knowing what to look for, as in wore out parts
Maybe he just needed to shoot it more? I have no idea how many total rounds he put through it but he owned the pistol for about 4-5 years. It was a great looking pistol, I love the looks of the Kimbers.

So many great 1911 options out there... they really are the semi-auto pistol that people love. I've got my Glock 23 but on down the line, I hope to invest in a solid 1911 but it will be more for looks/investment than shooting, although I would have to break it in. I really like the new S&W 1911s, great looking pistol with the S$W name (lol, I meant S&W).

Even the best gun makers, make a lemon now & then. Thats why certain types of used weapons should be looked at by someone that has years of experiences with said fire arm. IMO the 1911 falls in this category. I would never buy a used AR-15 based off of my knowledge of them. Now M-14s back to the day Colt made all men equal,I'm well versed.

You are the man! I haven't been able to get a deal on a brick for about 3 months, just crappy timing of not being on when a deal came up, done deal.

The first 1911 I shot was during a Navy Qualification for a Security Alert Team. It was a worn out sloppy Colt IIRC. (no doubt it was worn out and sloppy, I just don't remember if it was a Colt) You could not tell where the round was going to land they were all over the place. I barely managed to qualify.

Needless to say I had an instant dislike for the 1911, that carried on for many years. I then got to shoot a 1911 that was a thing of beauty a Les Baer Premier. And the 1911 Love Affair was off and running.

I currently own the Kimber Ultra CDP II and an Ed Brown Special Forces that I picked up last Saturday after a very long 10 day wait.

Just gotta keep checking places like slickguns and gunbot.

Also, here is another good source from the S&W forums...

I don't know if you guys know, but when you order from Cabelas online there is a way to get around the 1 brick limit.

All you have to do is make 2 separate orders of 1 brick each.

Heh

Yeah, or 3 which is how many I ordered. All are being sent to local store so no shipping charge either. Yeah I'll be going to hell.
