When the donkey said that we have the best trained, most prepared, best equipped military I almost puked.
I'm associated with the Navy and have been for 24 years. We have little technology in "lesser" commands (ie Reserve Components). There is less and less alotted for training and travel requirements than ever before. From 1980 thru 1991 we had the strongest military that we've had in years. Now we have half the fighting vessels that we had in the late 80's. Retention is so dismal that the services are offering pretty big signing bonuses for first time enlistees. The democrats say that we are doing great, which world are they living in? We don't need what we had during the cold war, however, if there were more than just a "police action" going on, we would be strapped to supply regular forces for the conflict. I'm ready to retire and I really have a sick feeling for our country and it's defense for the immediate future if there isn't a concerted effort to build us back to an acceptable level. I've rambled enough, anyone else? ------------------ Remember Joe Delaney? Some of us do and are acting on our belief that he was a hero. This is a bandwagon that all are invited to jump on!!! 37 Forever [This message has been edited by TomCash (edited 10-06-2000).] |
