Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

I can appreciate that. But this kind of movie - IF it's going to be good, it'll be good in the theater. Like Jurassic Park. Gotta go see it on the big screen.

I agree. The looking at the arrivals/departures board completely echoes the advice that he was given about all of his mileage earlier about just picking some place and going there. On top of that, it ends with a voiceover of his same speech that he gives each time of "Tonight most people will be welcomed home by jumping dogs & squealing kids. Their spouses will ask about their day. Tonight they'll sleep. The stars will wield forth from their daytime hiding places, and one of those lights, slightly brighter than the rest, will be my wingtip passing over" only this time it resonates with new meaning, impacted and changed by the events of the movie.

BTW, that whole movie was filmed in St. Louis. The weirdest ****ing thing was that one of my wife's good friends from high school was one of the guys fired. We saw him get fired, my wife was like, "That was Casey Bartel that just got fired." We reversed and looked again. It was definitely him. We then found out that tons of it was filmed in St. Louis, where they grew up.

Yeah, the majority of the movie was filmed here, and the majority of the people that were "fired" were extras from here that actually had been recently fired - they were looking for authentic reaction, and they got it, IMO.

Clash was OK. It was enjoyable, and at matinee prices I don't regret going. It didn't live up to its trailer, though.

Watched "Couples Retreat"....not even remotely funny and the plot was just terrible. Do not rent, even with the all star cast.

Also saw "Brothers" it was a decent rent and kept me interested but I didn't care for the ending and the trailers make it seem better than it turns out to be, but rentable.

Watched Carriers (2009) last night.

Quote:
Piper Perabo, Chris Pine, Emily VanCamp, and Josh Berry star in this apocalyptic tale of a viral pandemic that sweeps across the United States, and four fleeing friends who discover that they are far more dangerous to one another than any airborne pathogen.
Was better than I expected. Redbox rental, it's worth it.

After watching Knowing last year, my wife told me that end of the world movies freak her out a little bit so I've been adding movies with apocalyptic themes to our netflix queue lately. Carriers added. LOL

thanks for recommending Up In the Air, I really enjoyed that. It was good and I did not see the ending coming.
