I am really tired of these tv guys talking crap about the chiefs and not giving the chiefs any credit for their play over these last 3 games. All they did was rag on their running game and talk about how good the seahawks looked. When the chiefs came back in the secound half that's when the props started coming.

With the exception of the TD to Gonzo, their play really didn't deserve any props in the first half. I do understand your point though. It seems that in almost every game the announcers have a favorite, and if that team starts to lose then they switch gears to save their butts.

It just seemed like going into the game that the talk was all about the seahawks and that they lost sight that the chiefs have evolved into a better team over the last two games, even the coverage on espn monday countdown dealt mostly with the sunday games little talk about the monday night match up, not much build up for the highlight game of the week.

chief mohawk

How exactly have they evolved? Yes, they won. Yes anyone could also make an aurgument that they were outplayed in both contests. Chiefs will get credit when they play great football, just like every other team in the league.

Bronco fan are you saying that they are not playing great football? I think that if you dont go 3 and out on all running playand start taking what the d gives you are evolving into a better football team.

To be honest, chiefs are definately not playing great football. But they have done some things much better over the last 2 weeks.

For one, they have attempted to balance the offense. The scheme has allowed Grbac to succeed and hopefully gain some confidence.

One could make an argument in favor of any number of goofy propositions--hell, just watch the Presidential debates, tonight--but how one could make an argument that the Seahawks and Broncos outplayed the Chiefs these last two games, even though we outscored each of them in the 4th quarter a TD and a FG to zeeeeeee-roooooooooooooo, is beyond me.

I sensed that as well, Chief Mohawk but I didn't want to post about it for fear Broncofan would tear down my hypothesis and make me look silly in front of my peers.

This Bronco Fan guy is a real prize. His mighty Donx get dumped by an 0-4 team at home and he criticizes us? The Chiefs did play great football last night. They played great football in Denver, too. Of course, no one NEEDS TO PLAY GREAT FOOTBALL to beat the sorry a$$ Donx.

I'll be laughing after San Diego spanks your pathetic chumps this weekend GO BOLTS!

On the radio telecast Boomer was really questioning Grbac's mental toughness. They cut away to James Lofton who blasted Elvis for this exchange in the first half :

DA: "I was wide open!"

Elvis: "I don't have @#$# time to do anything!"

Lofton was critical for Elvis yelling this in front of the O-Linemen, who he feels doesn't have much respect for EG to begin with.
Millen commented that EG does not exactly have a personality that endears him to teammates.

To be fair, they ripped Kitna far worse than EG.

Don't mean any disrespect, but WHO CARES if the national scrubs don't give us "respect?"

Just go out and win football games and things will take care of itself.

Personally, I take anything that "commentators" say with a grain of salt. They have their "media darlings" already picked out and everyone else is fair game for the use-to-be's and never-were's who inhabit the broadcasting booths.

Sorta like people who're so surprised that Tom Jackson never seems to give out a "game ball" to any AFC West players except for Denver players. Gee, wonder why that could be.

Personally, I could care less. I find the commentators interfer with the enjoyment of the game more than they add to it. The best games to watch are at a bar where the noise is too high to hear the announcers.

I'm not sure KC is playing great football. I think we're playing scrappy football and doing enough to win. We looked great in the fourth quarter yesterday but that was about it. I like what I see, a young team that could easily be 4-1 or 1-4. The kids are playing hard. I still think this is a 7-9, 9-7 team. They play with a lot of passion and never give up...I like this group much better than the '99 Chiefs. Give Gun some time, Rome wasn't built in a day...

Common 'taters...bah, who needs 'em? Let's face it...Fouts is a common 'tater if ever there was one. Drop him like the rancid tuber that he is and bring on the SWEET 'taters. The weather gal on the FOX NFL report now...she can comment on anything she chooses in my little kingdom.

Props and respect for the CHIEFS always seems to have a high price. Get a few wins, draw a crowd of media bottom feeders and things go to hell in a handbasket. Once the media start their feeding frenzy, the team and the town stops focusing on one game at a time and start believing the hype. With the CHIEFS it always pays to walk the walk and ignore the fools that talk the talk.

So long as Gunter and you and me and good ol' Lenny know what our guys are capable of, who care's what the bigshots in their colorful blazers say? When were they ever right about the CHIEFS anyways? And frankly, why would you listen to anyone who dresses like that in the first place?

Some of us live outside the KC area and are simply starved for any Chiefs coverage at all, so it's a bit bothersome when we do get a nationally televised game and all the focus of the commentary is on the opponent. (Not to mention that the commentary is a fraction of the normal MNF pre-game coverage.) The advent of the net has helped, but it would still be nice to hear items about your favorite team that shed a positive light.
