If Chiefs move to LA, we could get Tony G back

The interesting thing is that Tony is 2nd all time in receptions, and he's about three seasons from passing Jerry Rice. That's pretty amazing considering how far Rice is above anybody else.

He's fifth all time in receiving yards, but is only 926 yards from passing Randy Moss, Isaac Bruce, and Terrell Owens to move into second.

He's sixth in touchdown receptions and would have a hard time moving up a lot on that list. He's 18 TDs behind the 5th-place guy, Marvin Harrison.

It's probably not worth moving the franchise to Los Angeles just to get a couple more years of Tony G., but I thought I'd mention it.

Falcons' Tony Gonzalez not reconsidering retirement
35

Tony Gonzalez said last year he was 95 percent certain he would retire after the 2012 season. He did not.

The Atlanta Falcons tight end sounds like he's finally found that last 5 percent as he puts the ultimate touches on his 17th season.

"I could keep playing," Gonzalez said Thursday, via The Sacramento Bee. "I know I could. But it's over."

He's not wrong about that first part. Gonzalez remains a productive and durable asset as he nears his 38th birthday. He still averages 10 yards per reception and is on pace for more than 80 catches and 900 yards this season. His seven touchdown catches illustrate how dangerous he remains in the red zone.

Gonzalez acknowledged he would've considered continuing his career if there was an NFL team in Los Angeles, where he lives with his family. That's not an option, so Gonzalez will say goodbye. Probably.

Interesting. So it wouldn't even cost us a draft pick?

Hmm....

The odds of the Chiefs moving to LA is a pretty safe bet zero, considering you know, they're locked in their lease until 2030.

Chiefs playing in the Rose Bowl sounds nice. Look out PAC 12 and Big 10.

I'd be careful Tony G
Belichick has had other 12 year olds swim with the fishes

APThere are two games left in the regular season, which means that there are two games left in Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez’s career.

Unless, of course, he decides to reverse course and come back for the 2014 season. Gonzalez was asked about that possibility during a conference call with 49ers media on Thursday and he said that his mind remains set on calling it a career after Week 17.

“I absolutely could,” Gonzalez said, via Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group. “But it’s the end of the road for me. I put everything out there and I’m completely satisfied. I don’t have any regrets and I look forward to what’s next.”

The only caveat Gonzalez offered was that he would consider another season if there were a team in Los Angeles, where his 12-year-old son lives. Of course, there isn’t a team in Los Angeles and there’s unlikely to be one by the start of the 2014 season so we’ll be saying goodbye to Gonzalez just before we say goodbye to 2013.

But it would be nice to time travel to the Stone Age.
