Cummins..easy to modify to get crazy horsepower and torque numbers..very reliable motor..really have to upgrade the transmission tho..normally a weak spot

I'm reading that the avg. mileage for a major overhaul is 350,000 miles on the cummins.

Depends on what your doing I've got the hemi in my 09 half ton. It's got 190k on her and runs like a champ. I do however have power train for life so it gets abused regularly. I've towed way more than it's rated for and changed the oil way less than expected. It's literally proof it's a tough motor. The cummins is a great motor though. Don't forget to factor in added cost of fuel, more expensive oil, heavier rated tires, and the emissions exhaust juice into your budget.
