Regular Post# 97 posted 11-04-2000 10:29 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's exactly what is wrong with our teachers pam. The self righteous, know it all, blame it on the parents attitude is pathetic and is an excuse for poor teaching. I hope your not as pathetic teaching as you sound. What ever! Testing does not even near cover the ability of teachers. 1. Spend all night at the hospital and police station with your students because their mother was killed in a car wreck and their father was toooo drunk to even wake up. But I must be pathetic right. 2. Volunteer to stay until 6 pm helping a student that is 16 years old try to learn to read and spell HIS NAME because he is a fetal alcohol baby. But again I must be pathetic. 3. Work until 11pm helping your class get their float ready for homecoming--at the displeasure of your husband But again pathetic 4. Spend a week re-teaching the same material because 90 percent of the kids did not study therefore received less than 50 percent on their unit test--taking the blame by saying I must have not taught it the way they needed it--even though you know in your heart that they just did not study. Pathetic But NO parents are perfect and we teachers need testing to prove our self worth. Russ, I don't care about the money. If I did I would not be teaching, but, my daughter is going to college in 8 years and I want her to afford the one she chooses. And yes, I need an income. As much as I love what I do, I need a paycheck.<P> |
