Idiots from Westboro Baptist Church headed my way

20 year old Pvt. Jon Hostetter lost his life in Afghanistan last week. He was from my hometown. While driving home today from work I had the pleasure of watching our community put up 6 miles of flags along Highway 5/6.

Now I find out these idiots are coming to protest the funeral. I know it has been discussed here before but it sickens me to think of the audacity of these people to protest a military funeral. May God have mercy on their souls. (I don't think they have one)

Pardon my ignorance, but why in the hell would a bunch of people want to protest a solder's funeral?

America allows gay in the military therefore each time a soldier dies they deserve it because they are presumed gay.

I think it is even more remote than that. What they do is bad enough, but even within their ****ed-up philosophy, it doesn't make much sense. It is something like there is so much sin (and homosexuality in particular) in America that God is punishing America by killing these soldiers.

The funeral "protests" are really more "demonstrations" where they can say how God is punishing America for its sins and they "celebrate" the death because it is God's doing. It really makes no ****ing sense, but that is their mindset.

The Westboro scumbags are all lawyers and attempt to do shocking things that conflict with social norms in order to provoke a response so that they can sue you and continue to finance this cycle of fail.

It's the cruel irony of a soldiers death. They defend the rights of idiots to spout nonsense free of persecution. Right or wrong

True. They actually put that in their flyers, with the soldier's name.

Google them and news about them and you will have your answers as to why they do this and why they are almost universally despised regardless of any sort of political affiliation.

In their opinion, these soldiers are being killed as part of God's judgement on the United States for tolerating abortion, homosexuality and other sins. They do things that are deliberately offensive in an attempt to draw attention to themselves.
