A fine to someone like Kraft is meaningless.
Blatant, pre-meditated, intentional cheating in a conference championship game should be a minimum 4 game suspension. Refusing to fully cooperate with the investigation should be another 4 games for Brady. The Patriot organizations interference with the investigation should require the loss of a first round draft pick, especially in light of Kraft's original demand for an apology and his defiant actions since the report was issued. Using the Saints as precedent, it looks like Belichick should miss some time as well, under Roger's "ignorance is no excuse" policy.

Brady will get a blow job, a contract extension, and an apology.

That's probably the correct punishment.

They should force Tom Brady to sign the contract he should be playing on. The one where the Pats have a cap hit of around $20 million for him.

They should be creative, like sandblasting the chrome off of their 2014 Lombardi.

Yes. I don't think they deserve to be that high. But Goodell has no choice at this point. Goodell has somehow been bulletproof with the owners, but I think light punishment of the Pats here could finally send the owners over the edge. It doesn't sound like many owners are too happy with how cozy the two are and I think Goodell is going to try to at least make a bold statement.

If a player cheats, he is given a 4 game ban for first offense, a 6 game ban if he tries to "cheat the test" and a 10 game ban for a second offense 2.5x the original punishment for a second offense of cheating.
NE got stripped of a first round pick and was given a massive fine to the team and a massive fine to the HC for their first offense for spygate. They obviously didn't learn. IMO the only truly logical way to deal with this is to hold them accountable by the same measure a cheating player is dealt with. First round pick X 2.5 = 2 first rounders and a second The team should be fined 3m MINIMUM BB should be fined 2m Now we move along to Tom Brady... IMO he should be dealt with in either the same way a player is dealt with if he tries to cheat a drug test (6 game suspension) or as a second offender (10 game suspension) because he deliberately he had direct knowledge of them deflating the footballs. He seemingly directed them to do so. In total... Patriots lose 2016 first and second rounders and their 2017 first. Team fined 3m BB fined 2m Tom Brady suspended for between 6-10 games Tom Brady fined 1m If they deal out a punishment that's less than this, it clearly shows favoritism. |

Rulebook says $25,000. BossChief suggests 2 first round picks, a second round pick, $5 million in fines ($2 million of which are on the head coach, who was specifically exonerated) and 6-10 game suspension, or else it "clearly shows favoritism". Let the hate flow!
