ESPN 300 Jalen Tabor flips to Gators

One week after committing to Arizona during the 2014 Under Armour All-America Game, the nation’s No. 15-ranked prospect Jalen Tabor (Washington, D.C./Friendship Collegiate Academy) has had a change of heart.

According to Tabor’s mother, Marie Tabor, the versatile 6-foot-1, 188-pound defensive back has flipped his pledge to the Florida Gators.

“It’s definitely correct, Jalen will be a Florida Gator,” Marie Tabor said via text. “Final decision.”

The Gators will also get Tabor on campus in Gainesville and enrolled by Monday his mother said.

Tabor took official visits to Maryland, Arizona, Florida and Alabama before trimming his list to the Tide and Wildcats prior to his announcement on Jan. 2.

The commitment to Arizona came as a surprise to many, even though teammate and close friend Jonathan Haden is also committed to the Wildcats.

Tabor was a standout throughout the week of Under Armour All-America practices, and during the game as well. He is the No. 5-ranked cornerback prospect in the 2014 class.

With Tabor, the Gators now have 21 commitments in the 2014 class. He joins 11 other ESPN 300 commits in the class and is also one of 16 four-star prospects that Florida will welcome to Gainesville in this class.

Unexpected 6'1 5-star DB flip to the good guys & he's an early enrollee = Awesome.

Mizzou lost at home to a team ranked 270 in the RPI, who was 0-6 on the road.

So...I just called Petrino back to Louisville correctly. For my next prediction...Mack Brown to Vanderbilt.

Mack Brown at a school that actually has academic standards?

He's not going to know what to do with kids that can read and write.

I think he'd love it. No pressure...he even played there for a few years. Perfect fit for the guy to bridge the gap to retirement.

And Texas is a really good school, btw...same with North Carolina.

Mack grew up in Cookeville, TN, which is a little more than an hour away from Nashville, and played for Vanderbilt for a couple of years. I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

I was living in Austin when the Big 12 merger was being discussed. One of the big talking points was about whether or not Texas should be willing to get in bed with a bunch of schools that didn't have the same educational standards. They may not be Vanderbilt, but they're no academic slouch.

For regular students? Sure.

58% graduation rate for football players. No telling how many are doing it legitimately.

Only 3 schools in the PAC10 are worse, only two schools are worse in the SEC, only two in the ACC, only 1 in the BigEast and only 1 worse in the Big12.

At the time, it was for admission standards for student athletes. I don't know if their standards changed after joining the Big 12 or what their graduation rates were at the time.
