1st round QBs aren't taken that high to sit more than a year. Chiefs aren't in the market for a player like that as Smith is probably here for at minimum another 3 seasons barring injury. When the dude appears to be in the last season or two of his Chiefs career I fully expect this regime will do what it takes to draft his replacement.
