Car crashes into Kissimmee Amscot Watch Video

Four people were injured when a woman crashed her car into an Osceola County business.

It happened just before 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the Amscot, located at 1021 Buenaventura Blvd.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said 55-year-old Beverly Wallace was traveling eastbound in the DD Discount's parking lot when she lost control. She continued eastbound and struck the cement median dividing the north and southbound lanes.

Wallace, of Sanford, then drove through a bush, crashed through a glass window of the Amscot on the other side of the road and into the lobby.

"I was just moving around, just dancing, playing around,” said John Acceus, who witnessed the crash. “He was standing by the cashier about three feet away from me, and right when I looked back, I see a car come and just flying next to me. I even grazed it, touched it, and it hit the wall and it was really scary."

Acceus and his brother Jesse were cashing checks when the crash happened. John was able to escape uninjured, but Jesse was pinned by the car.

"After she hit my brother, she came out the car and I thought she was going to run, and she ran up to my brother and said ‘I'm sorry I killed you,’ just like that," Acceus said.

Thankfully, Jesse wasn't killed. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where his brother said Jesse has a broken leg.

A 36-year-old Kissimmee woman and 23-year-old Orlando man were struck by debris. Both were taken to Florida Hospital Kissimmee with minor injuries.

Wallace was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

“From the other side it looked like somebody wasn’t paying attention, like somebody just devastated everything in there,” said Shamar Edge, an Amscot customer. “Glass all over the floor, wood knocked everywhere, hole in the wall. It was just completely destroyed.”

Despite the mess, Amscot stayed open and customers went along with their business, even with a 2,600-pound car sitting next to them.

Wallace was ticketed for careless driving and recommended for a re-exam.

Troopers said alcohol was not a factor in this crash.
