They're overrated every year very similar to Notre Dame.

That team got worked by South Carolina.

They might be top 50 but hardly top 25.

It is completely reasonable for an assistant to leave one of the best programs in the country for the same exact level of job at potentially the worst BCS program. Makes perfect sense.
Worst BCS?

Are you ****ing kidding?

Sniff the BCS then talk to KU. Please, you mu guys make me laugh so hard

I am just curious how you know this as fact where no one else seems to have any indication of this being the case. Not trying to argue with ya, just trying to figure it out. Because if he was indeed fired that certainly influences my opinion of the hire even further towards not liking it.

Hey no argument from me that this years team had no business being ranked in the top 10 but they certainly are a top 25 team. The overall field in college football outside of the top 8 teams was pretty meh. You're putting too much stock into 1 bowl game though.

I hate trying to predict bowl games. Sometimes it can be hard to tell what the coach is going to do with regards to playing times. A lot of coaches look at bowls as a preview towards next year and will give the youngsters more time than they would have during the (just completed) season. While some will take the win at all cost mentality...

I would have to agree with Billay that judging a team from one bowl game isn't truly fair. I think KSU was much better than their bowl appearance showed...

You were actually making a cognizant argument until you couldn't help your MU homerism.

Part of the problem is the SEC is just owning most of the talent these days. KU has a very interesting strategy I can't think of a staff that has more NFL guys on it than KU's. Kids might avoid places like Kansas because of 20 degree weather and snow in the winter will now give a place like KU a 2nd look. I also think you guys have a chance to do something with recruiting in Kansas where in the past it seems like all the elite talent went out of state.
Good post. Billay, are you sick?

Actually, I agree with him on that. Wisconsin is a solid program. One bad effort in a bowl game does not a season make. Just look at WV. They didn't appear to belong in a BCS bowl and look what they did to Clemson in the Orange. And speaking of Clemson, did anyone really think that would happen to them? I was shocked.

Edit: disregard that post. I apparently got mixed up on what teams you were talking about.

At the start of the year yeah.

Thanks but they are like the Chiefs (sort of). I'd rather them lose out so we can get a coach that gets them to the dance.

Eh there's been a lot of shit thrown around this board the past week and it's started to go downhill. Honestly I feel partially responsible for it only way to fix it is if we all get back to serious discussions.

To be fair you just hired Charlie Weis and brought in some NFL guys and 2 *5 star QB's. Not sure we're having these discussions if Larry Fedora is the coach.

True. It's hard to see any school having that type of success. I guess I should clarify my "used to be good" statement. Good as in national title good. I'd take ND's "shitty seasons" at KU right now.

The team was bad, sure.

But your finger pointing was at a program. And the success of the Kansas football program with BCS, NFL players, Hall of Famers, etc does not put them anywhere near "the worst BCS program".

Just off the top of my head I'm sure KU has a higher winning percentage than KSU, ISU and Baylor. That's just in the conference

That has no impact on KU as a program except to the extent that it helps recruit players, attract coaches, and raise money.
