DayZ

With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

Yep. updates are going to start rolling with major game additions.

Next time should also include the new AKM and 60 round drum mag. BANG!

Be careful Capone, I heard that possibly the next update won't allow you to join a server if your magazine has more ammo in it than allowed. You will just spawn as a new character.

I bought this game last night and played it for about an hour. I understand it's early access and still being developed but I don't know if i'll keep playing it. I guess I prefer a more polished product. I fought off a zombie with an axe which took an eternity and I nearly died in the process. I swear I hit that zombie in the face with that axe like 30 times. Had pretty bad connection loss every time I was in combat. My laptop seems to struggle running this game at a decent frame rate too. It's funny because I can max out a game like bioshock infinite and run it like a dream but dayz on average settings seems to whoop my laptops ass. Perhaps I need to **** with my drivers, idk

DayZ is highly CPU driven. That means a laptop CPU is gonna have a hard time.

And axe hits to zombies only take 2 actual head shots. Remember the warning you have to press OK on when you log in? Alpha game is Alpha.

Give it a shot with our group and you can have a lot more fun - add me on steam.

DayZ isnt everyones cup of tea thats for sure and its buggy as shit, but they now have a bigger dev team, so updates should come faster or at least fix more stuff at a time.

I totally understand why people stop playing. this game is taxing. Game taxes you and then the issues it has as well.

and apparently experimental is so overran that there are tons of people waiting to steal spots and they may have to open more servers to handle it.

I kinda wanna try the experimental build.. need teammates.
