What if Alex balls out this year?
We know Smith can turn it on sometimes when it's do-or-die. Not always, but sometimes. Colts game, for example. Handful of other examples.

If he has a fire under his ass, and decides to be more risky, Hill takes it next level, and Hunt gets a bunch more first downs that we left on the table, Kelce stays elite... Logan shuts down the opponents running game, etc.. etc...

If we have a great season, and we get to the AFC championship game with Smith playing great....

What's the gameplan?

Update: Through week 1, Alex is balling out this year.

Update: Through week 2, Alex is balling out this year.

Update: Through week 3, Alex is balling out this year.

Update: Through week 4, Alex is balling out this year.

Update: Through week 5, Alex is balling out this year.

Update: Through week 6, Alex was balling out this year, but did not ball out this week.

I think Patrick Mahomes II is actually going bring out the best in Alex Smith and he will do good for what he can do. Now it depends on if he can sustain it all season is my question because if he takes any more hits to the noggin that is going significant affect Alex.


Doesn't matter this is Alex Smith last year. The team is in transition and next year they will be looking at how best help Patrick be successful.

But seriously, it doesn't matter what Alex does this coming year. You don't trade up 17 spots in the draft to have that guy sit for 2 years. It doesn't happen in todays NFL. There's literally nothing Alex can do at this point to change that.

Alex would have ball out and we win it all to keep him in 2018. The only shot we have at doing that is if Brady breaks his own leg.

I feel like he's one concussion away from his wife pulling the plug on his career. I think it's his last ride this year.
