I've been trying to get into hockey and I'm looking for a team to root for. I kinda like Buffalo, but they're not in the playoffs apparently, so I don't know who to root for right now. I know I don't like the Rangers.

I think the East is pretty 'meh' outside of the Pens/Flyers series, which might make up for the rest of them. IIRC, a few years ago the bottom 4 seeds in the West won in the first round, and I could see something crazy like that happening. I'm more confident in the East picks than West, which is probably good news for the Sens, Panthers, etc.

East

Rangers over the Sens in 5
-- Not real high on the Rangers, but Craig Anderson...

Bruins over the Caps in 5
-- Maybe 6, but it seems like the Bruins have flipped the switch.

Devils over the Panthers in 6
-- Meh.

Penguins over the Flyers in 7
-- Too good to be a first round series... slight edge to the Pens, because I'm not sure anyone can ever be entirely sold on the Flyers' goalie situation.

West

Kings over the Canucks in 7
-- Probably overrating the the Kings, but they're scoring more goals and I think it's a good matchup for them.

Blues over the Sharks in 6
-- Not sold on the Blues, but this is probably the best possible matchup for them. The Sharks always seem to come up with clutch goals, but I don't think they'll match the Blues' toughness.

Blackhawks over the Coyotes in 7
-- Not sure what to think about this one. Smith will probably steal a game or two.

Predators over the Wings in 7
-- I'd say 6 (and would love to say 4 ), but either goalie is capable of stealing a game or two.

Nope. Panthers have their own arena out in the burbs. The Heat's arena is in downtown Miami.
