Help me shop for a car!

I've narrowed this down to 3 vehicles (though I reserve the right to add more as I find them). All prices are their asking price... not what I would pay.

2002 Ford Focus SVT w/ 72k miles - $5500
2002 VW Jetta Wagon w/ 98k miles - $6300
1993 BMX 740i w/ 50k miles - $4000

The Focus is the only one that is a stick shift but the other two are damn nice, fit the budget, and I would not mind driving any of them.

Jetta Wagon

BMW

Ford (no image attached... stock pic only)

Doing my research but any first hand knowledge on these cars would be a huge help.

I don't know anything about the Focus. My sister had one for a few years. I just asked her about it. She said it was pretty meh.

Really, I'd take a Honda with more miles vs. any of the above with fewer miles.
I'm not trading in a Honda. It was tragically lost in a collision with a large decorative stone courtesy of my brother.

I just meant "trading in" as in "getting rid of in favor of another car."

I recommend you go drive them. Buy the one you like best. Any one of those cars can be a lemon or a diamond. When you find the one you like do a carfwx on it. Anyone can recommend a brand. But the only person that can tell you anything about the car You are testing is you and the person selling it. Buying one used car over another simply because of the brand is silly. Any car you drive can be a piece of crap.

I've heard good things about the focus but have no experience with them. IMO an eclipse is a girls car.

Good luck.

Slightly sportier than a civic but not by much, not a bad car for the $ though. You seem like a car guy, I would make your Dbag brother drive you to Den/Chi and get what you want. I once settled on an older auto Maxima that "made sense", hated it every day and traded it for $2k less than I paid for it for an S2000 years ago just to get out of it. Never again will I settle for something like that.

I won't go as far as saying my kid brother is a dbag... he is just young and made a mistake.

That said, having him drive me around to find the right car is not out of the realm of possibility.

Didn't mean to imply that, but sounds like he pulled a dbag move and owes you at least one big favor.

lol...I'm not really interested in getting into a pissing match with you seeing that I'm in the holiday spirit and all. And you're right, I don't know much about the rice burning penis extensions you're into, so you go boy. But don't think for a goddamn second I don't know what I'm talking about, I've probably been driving cars longer than your punk little ass has been alive, and I've probably owned more of them than years your miserable ass has existed on this planet.

Merry Christmas, bitch.

Wow, someone manned up and admitted they didn't actually know what they were talking about, this has to be a CP first.

Seriously, have a Merry Christmas and well done sir. No sarcasm at all

If you're into the sport compact scene how about the Neon SRT-4? I saw you were looking at Mustangs, love them you could find a nice 99-03 GT in the range you're looking for.
